I'm starting this thread as I've just heard a rumble of thunder here in Edinburgh and some lightning strikes have started to show up on the latest radar map.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Yes John, that cloudburst turned thundery as it moved N away from us.

My daughter tells me she had thunder in Nottingham about the same time

We've just had our 3rd torrential downpour!

Good storm here in the Fens an hour ago. Would have been more impressive had it been dark, but even so.

Few rumbles of thunder in Sheffield roughly an hour ago.

It's calmed down now (with hill fog to the W)

I’ve never known a storm like we are currently experiencing in the Uk. Literally like bombs going off. Woken the town up let alone just me. Unreal

There was some impressive convective stuff here earlier - it's been a long time since I've awoken to the sound of heavy rain drumming on the roof... it's like a natural white noise generator!
12.8mm fell in just over an hour, with a peak rate of 73mm/hour at 5 AM.
By the time the rest of the world gets up there'll be very little sign of it all - the sun is out, and with a breeze it'll dry up in no time.
