The latest rainfall data for Edinburgh Gogarbank is as follows:

Data For Recent Days

Total since 10 am BST (09:00 UTC) this morning: 3.6 mm (as at 11:30 pm BST (22:30 UTC) tonight on Friday 25 October 2024)

Monthly Data

Total for this month so far: 81.2 mm (98.2% of 1991-2020 October average)
Number of rain days during this month: 13 (100.0% of 1991-2020 October average)
Number of dry days during this month: 10

This means that only at least another 1.6 mm of rain now needs to fall between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go
down as being wetter than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

In addition to that, more official rain days have now been recorded this month than the 1991-2020 October average and so regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this month will now go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of rain days.

Seasonal Data

Total for this autumn so far: 141.6 mm (67.0% of 1991-2020 autumn average)
Number of rain days during this autumn: 23 (63.2% of 1991-2020 autumn average)
Number of dry days during this autumn: 23

Annual Data

Total for this year so far: 785.4 mm (100.1% of 1991-2020 annual average)
Number of rain days during this year: 123 (89.5% of 1991-2020 annual average)
Number of dry days during this year: 112

This means that more rain has now fallen during this year than the 1991-2020 annual average and so regardless of what happens during the rest of this year, this year will now go down as being wetter than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

70mm here which may turn out to be the final total depending on the extent of a little light rain forecast for this afternoon.

Final total for October here is 105mm (173% average).   The 5th wettest October in the last 42 years here.
Remarkably, all of the most recent six Octobers  have been very wet, the average rainfall of these Octobers being 107mm.  The long term average is just 60mm.   Never seen such an extreme swing in rainfall trends for any month prior to this.
