The freezing/snow level this afternoon and evening seem to be dropping slowly and steadily now (as predicted). Hopefully the precipitation will hang around until later this evening/overnight here when it is likely to be of snow.

Went a short excursion out towards Alford this afternoon. Snow line was around 200-250m. Thought about Suie/Gartly Moor for some sledging with the kids but I suspect it would have been too wild and dodgy getting the car in and out!

Just had (what looks like) a hail shower here and it looks like it may stick around.

After a wintry mix this afternoon it is currently snowing here in Aberdeen. Surfaces are wet but it is heavy enough to be settling on at least some surfaces. Hopefully more to come tonight.

And there has been. It’s nice to wake up to a covering of snow and listen to the quiet sound of car tyres “crunch” on snow as an occasional car creeps almost silently down the street.

It's white above about 900 feet here, not a whole lot by the look of it.
By the time showers turned to snow they were very short lived at least here a bit inland.

A few snowflakes on prone surfaces here from probably the last shower to hit.

Well the cheviot is beautifully white but a few of the other hills are looking a little less white.

Nothing here yet but there are some 'beefy' looking showers in the Irish Sea not too far from making landfall that may well have my name on them. Temp is -1.1C so should one of those hit it would give a nice covering.

At the moment, it's hard to tell what the weather is doing just now.

The radar maps are telling me that it's now snowing here but I am looking outside all the time, and don't actually see any snow here (it could be different in the south of Edinburgh though, which is higher up and further inland from here). What is falling just now looks more like light rain to me. At the same time, the roads and pavements rather than turning white, are just getting damper.

Some ground frost had started to form earlier on, but that wasn't around for long before it then disappeared and although we did briefly get an official air frost at Edinburgh Airport, the temperatures have now jumped back up over the last few hours.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
