Some seriously beefy radar returns in the SW approaches, 80mm/hr+ in places - let's hope it can hold itself together over land.

However looks like (even over Moors that the precipitation hasn;t yet turned to snow:

Meanwhile Exeter is dry and very windy if overcast with fast moving nimbus clouds 5c.

Hope you get something out of this Rob and Gooner etc. At least we should have all seen some snow in south if we don't get this easterly  from the HLB we were all promised!!

Apparently some shower activity is breaking out well ahead of the main front and have reached Hereford. That gives me some encouragement.

May not mean anything for us, but I can see the precipitation pepping up in the Bristol Channel.

Funny how the main band of precipitation in Ireland cannot make much headway into NI. Must be the Brexit hard border in operation.

One of the images they use says "Snow has already blighted parts of the country" above which is a scene of no more than what I would call a light dusting maybe hoar frost even and a picturesque almost Christmassy card scene.

Blight meaning to infect, ruin wreck etc

If you are going to use a picture you might at least show something appropriate to fit the caption. Or vice versa.

Rant over.

Latest Met Office output is now upgrading the potential for Herefordshire and Worcestershire -  I live in hope.

But looking at the intensity of the activity in the Bristol Channel I am more hopeful than earlier today - surely that cannot just fizzle out before it reaches us?

Just had a text from sons 6th college. Closing early today 1.30pm because of weather warning. I think the daughters school will soon follow.

Had to go to Weymouth earlier. It's another climate with temps nudging between 5 and 6C with wind off the sea raising temps.

Inland still about 2 to 3C.

Well I’m in west Cornwall and I’ve just driven over the hilly parts 700ft. The temperature is between 2c and 3c in the valley with a wintery mix on the tops. So hope for those further east.
Also it’s Hammering it down so we probably have some evaporation cooling.

Should be some lying snow in Exeter I reckon but nothing that troublesome and wet in nature. Further inland will be a different matter.
