It'll give you hour by hour synopsis as to what this model is showing (below the map) for your location. Great thing about this model is that it updates very quickly. And I think it has a very high resolution of 2km Sq, so not bad!

Thanks for that. Do you know, I had only ever noticed the regular rainfall radar on the Met Eireann website but not the forecast. Hopefully, it'll be accurate this evening.

There often seems to be a big wedge of ppn showing heading eastwards from the West Dean radar on the Hants/Wilts border, but whether that is phantom ppn or the surrounding slice of the pie is simply not showing, I'm not sure.

Not just that but the radar shows precipitation over us as I type but its dry on the ground. 


The local schools have closed early and will be tomorrow too.


Time to change of course but they the schools seem quite confident of some significant snow later today to take this approach and begin the weekend early.


Bit like the summer watching high level stuff approaching from France, well not quite the same but on the ground nothing or a few large drops of rain. The potential is there...

It's more the fact that back then, the teacher probably walked within walking distance of school too, whereas nowadays the teachers have to drive 20 miles to school, so if they can't get in, no lessons.

Radar suggests we're under some precipitation here on the coast, with a temp of 1.8C and dropping dew point I'd expect snow. Nothing at all falling yet.

Exeter for work (S of city centre). Rain until 15m ago now heavy snow. Note the small wave/runner on the trough moving east along the Channel. This will both enhance ppn and back surface flow just N of E across the south.
Still expecting significant totals from Bristol across to Kent tonight with local 15cm easily. Snow even on the coast from IOW east. Travel disruption inevitable.

I admire your optimism. I'll be leaving work about 10pm in London and getting back to Hampshire about 11.15pm, so hoping for a nice snowy bike ride back home through the woods.

I like this.   Really odd here, the radar has us under sleet or snow here, and has done for quite a while. Not a thing falling from the sky yet.

Hi Neil. Even this mornings forecasts are looking a bust for here smack in the middle of the amber warning. Snow was expected from around 1pm. Not a flake so far and looking at the radar it’s clearly sliding in a more west to east fashion than was forecast. Not expecting anything here now, which won’t be a bad thing as I’ve got to travel in the morning. 


Radar showing us under precipitation for last hour. Nothing is actually falling though. Behind that it’s clearly fragmenting. A bust for a large area of the amber warning I feel. Better further south and east though

ITV local forecast mentioned only a couple of centimetres overnight, seems to conflict with a lot of other predictions from numerous sources.

It does look as though much of the ppn on the radar, at least the lighter parts, is actually nonexistent or not reaching the ground.

I appear to be well placed here at this end of Kent in terms of experiencing frontal snow, given the continental influence and current temps being at 0.8 c with a -1 dp. I might be a little miffed if I don't get to have something of a covering out of this - at least before it all turn back to sloppy seconds sleet/rain in the small hours.
