Kew Gardens is still leading Heathrow, surprisingly: 33.4C at 11am compared to 33.1 at LHR. So all the tarmac naysayers will have to try another angle... reflections from the greenhouses? ;)

Kew gardens is where the 2003 record happened wasn't it?

I reckon it will be Kew/Northolt/Heathrow

I'm skeptical it will be Cambridge or somewhere further north. A large part of the temperature is the local environment and surface which the models will not resolve at most resolutions avalible to us.

A brief and fast-fizzling shower just passed through (S to N) here to the north of Winchester, dropping the temperature fractionally below 30. Very, very strange to experience what really felt like a tropical shower here in southern England.

The Brogdale station is in the National Fruit Collection orchards, and is not operated by the Met Office. The 2003 reading from there beating the 38.1 at Gravesend on the same day was only made public seven weeks after the event.

What makes this the more impressive is it is remote and normally the coolest of all the local stations official or unofficial.

That's almost Florida type conditions now.

All praise the models if they got this right.

Also is heathrow dying due to cloud?
