My £500 Vantage Vue station is now recording 37.5 C here on the coastal edge. That can't be right but it's now in the shade and it does feel burning hot. It's also coming with 35% humidity.

37.7C has now been reported at Writtle and Kew Gardens

Linton on ouse is picking up the pace.
34.8C!
Wow! Cranfield and Benson also reporting 37C @ 14.50!

37.7 is 99.86F. Agonisingly close. Still decent odds available on Betfair if you think we can scrape another 0.1C...

Now 38.0 c on the nose. (35% h) according to my now shaded Vantage Vue station. Even though that will never be an official reading, it is my own personal all time record for my back yard.Still rising to 38.1 c.
Well my all time record smashed now. 35c in North Yorkshire.

St James's Park with a big drop from 36.3 to 35.1. Stupid French clouds.
Top post of the day. French clouds? They gave Paris 40.6C. 33.3C here.
This is too much LOL. I keep refreshing MetOffice Twitter!
Are we starting to see the hottest of the upper air arriving. Not a lot of soundings in here today.
Seem very good for your location as here only maxed 34C and 2 miles from the coast but Isle if Grain recording 36C a reocrd for them and they right at the coast. Seem the coastal areas are more hotter than inland?
If this cloud can shift from London, during the next 90 minutes we could see temperatures respond quickly.
At least we currently have the second hottest day ever recorded.
Could we get a Foehn over the pennines with the cloud?
Could Linton on ouse get to 36/37C????
If all else fails we can always break the record using this method
