A cruise ship with 6000 people on board has now been allowed to dock due to concerns some passengers have the virus.

This is what bothers me about countries outside China. They have a few confirmed cases which have been isolated, but since the incubation period is up to two weeks without obvious symptoms necessarily being present during that period and since we know asymptomatic carriers can pass on the infection (witness the German confirmed cases), it is surely probable that many people have been infected in third countries who have not yet presented to the authorities and who themselves are infecting others.

My son-in-law is a doctor (GP) and he told me at the weekend that if there is a coronavirus outbreak in the UK, the NHS will collapse under the pressure.

The point at issue as far as the NHS is concerned, is that if there is an outbreak here, hospitals may be inundated by people panicking they have the virus, when they may have nothing more than the common cold or influenza.

P.S. Sars was less infectious than the current coronavirus, but it had a much higher fatality level.

But if you care about the NHS, then you should vote Tory, since only a strong economy can deliver the revenue required to fund public services.

Socialists always run out of other people's money and then everything goes pear shaped, including public services - ask Maduro!

Most of them will, of course, contract 2019-nCoV whilst in the E&A waiting room from the only person in their city who actually did have it ....

Some precautions I've taken.

  • Stopped all social activities, limit travelling to the essential. Now working from home basically all the time.

  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water after touching a forgein surface or before eating.

  • Raised room temperature to 27C. Should expedite the denaturing of any viruses walked in.

  • Making more of a conscious effort to avoid touching face

  • Built up a sensible level of supplies such that I can completely isolate myself for a few weeks if it becomes necessary
