With regards to singapore I think there is significant evidence that Singapore is at serious risk of an epidemic if it isn't already in one. And like you say the concern is we are weeks behind when it comes to preventative measures.

As I said earlier though, the Singapore authorities are extremely health conscious and actively promote healthy living, which I found pretty impressive.  This in itself would suggest they’d be quick to act and test, therefore uncovering cases that might go undetected in other countries.  We don’t know how serious the detected cases are either and the fact they are only currently on orange alert, suggests they’re in control and hopefully it will stay that way.

Yes, it’s a virus to be concerned about but influenza is a killer that we don’t hear as much about yet it’s more common.  I don’t want to make light of this but I do think the fear of it can cause more health problems than the virus itself.  There’s a danger of wrapping ourselves in so much cotton wool that we’d suffocate.

I am not 'locked in a bunker'. I cancelled all social gatherings which would involve me visiting crowded areas unnecessarily. I still go out, I haven't even stopped running, I've just changed my route.

Pretty much all occasions that I have mentioned the 50% mortality rate was to demonstrate it is just as flawed as the 2% rate and you can use similar logic to get to it. Figures of 50% were in the pre-lit but I have been every bit as skeptical, if not much more so, than I was of the 2% rate. Never once did I consider a mortality rate of 50% to be credible.
