Major power failures now in the Oxford area. One affecting 162 postcodes, another affecting 66, another 99 and yet another with 370. Main affected areas appear to be to the west and south of Oxford including Witney and Abingdon.

They still managed to demolish a chimney at Didcot Power Station this morning despite 100mph winds at 400ft

The wind is winding up a notch here now, nothing to dramatic in the garden, 35mph the highest gust, but up a few metres and it's a different story, we have a line of 45ft leylandii trees behind our garden and they are taking a real battering, branches 6 to 8 inches thick are being ripped off, being there's a public footpath running along side them I hope people take notice.

Its windy here has been for a few hours after the overnight lull. Chance of something more significant here this afternoon but we'll see if it materialises or not.  Plenty rain rain though if nothing else.

Yes, I've noticed that too!

It's very windy here but nothing of any real significance. The main weather of note so far today has been the rain, torrential at times and coming down in copious quantities. And just to the north of here going by the rainfall radar it looks like it was even worse, reports of flooding to come, surely?

Wales taking quite a battering at the moment stay safe guys.

Extremely windy here but so far my fences are still standing, trees are still ok but the neighbours continue to part their cars under them. My car is safely in the garage.

I`m sure I`ve not experienced wind gusts as strong as this for a long time.

Need to Put a 2 by 3 right across panel 2 thirds up Rob then prop just underneath it works every time for me I appreciate it may be to late act.

I think something has just passed through here, nothing particularly noteworthy on the RADAR though - was   much less gusty a while back, but picked up rapidly about 15 mins ago.

Great link. So most of southern England has peaked around or just below 60 so far. Nearest to me would probably be Southampton Airport at 58. Only a few twigs off so far. Garden furniture hasn't blown over and bird feeders are staying attached (with blue tits having a fair old ride).
