Are you insourcing your beer consumption from Spoons to your home? I don't know what pubs are like in your patch but around here most are still rammed in the evenings. They seem a sure fire bet to pick up a touch of the cold corona very quickly. Saying that, I spoke to a medical Dr this morning and she told me she hopes to get it sooner rather than later.

 Was talking to my son-in-law last night and he said much the same thing (as a GP). He said if you get it now, the NHS has the capacity to treat you (if needed), including ICU capability. However, if it kicks off with thousands of cases, people would not be able to get the same level of care.

As per Maunder's reply, I'd been thinking the same thing. It's logical. The death rate will soar once it gets going and those who would have survived with care that current sufferers are getting are not able to get that care. Can't say I'll be asking people to cough over me, though. If we didn't have kids, I'd very much welcome the idea of stocking up and shutting ourselves off from the outside world for a full 6-8 months. I hate people.

I would agree, pubs  have got to be the best place to catch Corona after the Tube.  Not only is  it peeps-to- peeps   transmission, you have bog door  handles , tables, plates, cutlery and tables that have  not been properly cleaned.   


Not sure about the complementary nuts though - I reckon the ol' Corana would have a problem getting "house room"  due to  the zillion other pathogens scullin' about in there !

BreakingItalian government 'to close schools'






The Italian government is to close all schools and universities around the country until mid March because of the coronavirus outbreak, Ansa news agency reports.


Earlier officials reported a jump in cases and deaths from the virus.

As I've said before, I think this is good news: it implies either that in many cases it produces a mild illness and/or it's not transmissible to the extent some have concluded. Or both.
