How quickly does China now try and return to normal.

Anyone who hasn’t had the virus still won’t have the natural immunity. I guess the question is timing. But with the virus still on the rampage elsewhere it must be a challenge to say right were back at BAU

Ive been reviewing some of the news sites this morning. We’ve been testing, but actually I think we have probably not been testing enough. 


I saw a stat yesterday showing as a percentage of population were are second from bottom after the US in terms of actual tests. SK was top.

The report last night said she’s feeling better now, which suggests she’s had it for a few days at least and with no serious symptoms.  In my opinion, this and a lot of the recent news suggests many cases are so mild they’d go undetected if we weren’t aware of the virus and if we weren’t testing.

Well I saw an interview with someone earlier who said it came in 3 waves. First a cold like illness, then a brief respite before more severe flu like symptoms and then a pneumonia like illness. It could be she is in a lull between the first two phases. 


I don't think people are quite grasping what 'mild' means in a medical sense. Norovirus is described as mild but the symptoms are bloody grim.

Agreed, people’s definition of mild is way off. It’s amazing that some people continue to downplay the impact of getting this virus. Nadine herself said it hadn’t been a good few days, I don’t think she has said it was a ‘mild’ illness

There are plenty of reports of Italians under the age of 40 in ICU as well.


You still get pretty ill unless completely asymptomatic and at the moment we don’t know how many people are carrying it but symptom free.


Still old people... who cares, eh? We can burn through a lot of them without taking too much of a hit.

With regard to symptoms, I understood it began with a dry cough and high temperature, hence the heat sensors at all Asian Ports.  Anyone with a high temperature wasn’t being let into the country.

Yes mild can be unpleasant and does not mean asymptomatic just not potentially life threatening.

My son’s partner had some symptoms and had been in close contact with me after we came back from all the countries on the 111 list.  However, they didn’t test her, as it’s a month since we returned and beyond the 14 day period.  To be fair though, she was snotty and sneezy as well, which they say isn’t a symptom.

I didn’t say her symptoms were mild.  I said symptoms can be mild.  My point was that they can go undetected for a while or even completely and while undiagnosed, the virus is allowed to spread.

My friend's partner had all the classic symptoms and had been working in a building adjacent to where Kent's first case of Coronavirus was detected. He got his lunch from the same Tesco that everyone in the area uses and - a few days later - came down with the symptoms.


111 asked about the publicly-known symptoms, then asked if he had fatigue, swollen lips, swelling around his eyes or bloodshot eyes (there were a couple of others, too, but I can't remember them). He didn't, and as soon as he confirmed that they lost interest. If, however, he'd come back from Italy or another hotspot they would have asked him to get tested.
