Incidentally I was similarly skeptical when the same thing happened in Hubei in late January, but that actually was real; and the peak happened in Early february. My model suggests we will peak in 3-4 days time unless something changes.

If I had to bet, I'd say my model was wrong and we are still in the exponential growth phase. Only because I can't see how we could have escaped it this early on given that no one is socially distancing.

We went out as a family for a longish walk over the local fields this afternoon. We kept looking up at the sky and thinking it looked odd. Could not work it out - until it suddenly dawned - no contrails at all.

I saw one jet overhead at the weekend; there was more activity from Duxford, and not much of that either.

Perhaps as a whole, the country is doing better than the media would lead us to believe. Let's hope so.

It would be nice to think that most people have the common sense and decency to do what is asked of them. Yes, I missed not going to the local pub last week, but I didn't and now it is closed in any case.

Boris: Without huge national effort to halt the growth of this virus, there’ll come a moment when no health service in the world could possibly cope; because there won’t be enough ventilators, enough intensive care beds, enough doctors, enough nurses

I’ll be interested to see if the police have the resources to manage the new measures. My gut feeling is, in cities anyway, they’ll have their work cut out in the next few weeks.

Today the tube was packed of mostly construction workers.

Can anyone confirm if construction sites were except?

So many questions on enforcement though. At any point if you get stopped by the police, surely you can just say you’re going food shopping?
