Experts are still saying deaths in the UK could reach the expected 20,000 but they are hoping it could well be a bit lower , I just don't see anywhere near that number

28 deaths. We have the chance here to contain this and prevent an Italy/Spain type situation unfolding. This will all hinge on everybody playing their part.

Given the numbers, I am now wondering whether the UK did in fact get a weaker strain of this around Christmas as some people have been saying.

The 47-year-old patient is not believed to have had underlying health conditions. The other 27 patients all had underlying health conditions.

Yes, an encouragingly low number today. Let's hope that it is the beginning of us curbing the spread and not just an anomaly. We'll know soon enough.

Yes I’m convinced I’ve had it or hoping so had much worse flu over the years if it is the case.

I very much hope to be wrong about this but given the growth in the number of cases I think that’s unlikely.

Re the 21-year-old I am sure the story I read said she died on Tuesday, ie yesterday.

I don’t like to stamp on people’s hopes and desperately hope we have turned a corner....But I urge caution. We have some way to go. Volume of cases in the last four days have gotten higher - sadly this means that over the next 7-10 days it’s likely that could translate into more deaths.

I only say this because diagnosis and the death are not immediate and often can be 10-14 days. This is why you see ICUs become saturated

Its not mean minded. What is mean minded is the fact that for two weeks this crisis has been unfolding and these NHS workers have been having to pay this charge. It’s unfair and unjust.

Yes, it’s great that they now have this. But like everything this government has been too slow to act and deal with it.

I'm absolutely certain that if you were dealing with a crisis you wouldn't be worrying about trivia, which, with respect, is what car parking charges are. Yes, it's a nice gesture but the precise timing is not relevant.

Well, just to pour a little cold water on the proceedings with some anecdotal evidence from my county, Worcestershire. Spoke to my daughter at lunchtime today and she told me that around a week ago, there were 10 hospitalised cases in Worcestershire, whilst today, Worcestershire Royal Hospital now has eight wards full of corona virus patients - given that each ward has around 20 beds, that makes for @ 160 patients in that one hospital requiring critical care.

New world order coming.

A friend of my sister has it.

She caught it  after  doing the rounds of London pubs and clubs and public transport about 3 weeks ago.  Spent 2 hours in  a car with my sis and her other half on the 16th March.  and developed symptoms a day or so later. Sis hasn't developed any symptoms  yet but is  in  self isolation.  My sisters friend started of with relativity mild symptoms (cough but no fever) but has now just been carted off to hospital on oxygen and intravenous    antibiotics - it doesn't  look at all good    She is circa 60 with no known underlying health issues.

It seems to be if you can shake this ****** thing off   after a few days you are OK, if your body can't kick it out quickly  the risks escalate !
