Government Minister:

The housing secretary says 84 tons of PPE for frontline health workers is expected to arrive in the UK tomorrow. This will include 400,000 protective gowns.

"We've got to do more to get the PPE that we need to the frontline," he said.

"There's massive global demand for the equipment. But we are trying to do everything that we can to get the equipment we need."

PHE Tweeted this 7hrs who on Twitter:

Following an agreement between the UK 🇬🇧 and Turkey 🇹🇷 250,000 items of personal protective equipment including N-95 face masks, surgical masks and protective suits for the NHS arrived @RAFBrizeNorton for distribution to medical centres across the country.

Hospital admissions down again, this time by 5%. Excellent news.

However the Diamond Princes 'results' were not dissimilar and they were largely geriatric

It’s possible the London figures are not as high due to the younger population, who are less likely to need hospital treatment.  If they haven’t been admitted to hospital, or aren’t a frontline worker, they won’t have been tested.  Therefore they won’t be counted.

US carrier also finds 60% infected but most with no symptoms.

It's everywhere.
Being on public transport in London a month ago would be an easier way to catch it than a ship

60% of the 600 who tested positive (i.e. 360) were not symptomatic at the time they were tested - but may have gone on to have symptoms later.

So only (360/4800)*100  i.e. 7.5% of the total crew were asymptomatic carriers.

In this case the 60% of carriers who were asymptomatic at the time they were tested was not wildly higher than the 25%-50% range quoted by Fauci on 5th April.

Yes what was available in reporting certain types of figures certainly aren't up to scratch when reporting stats for pandemics! I can see a review of these as well, though to collect what the leaders need to make important decisions based on these numbers now should not be rocket science.

Don't know if this has already been posted.

Obama in a 2014 speech predicting that there "may and likely will" be a future deadly airborne pandemic and describing what needed to be done to prepare, stressing that it should be a non-partisan issue.

Yep, this is the most important and clean metric, we are clearly past the peak now. We really need to put a lot of resources now on a mass test and trace programme for later in May.

I am sure there are reasons for the current approach but surely there has to be some merit in moving to a reusable/washable gown approach (for sustainability as much a small anything else)?

Captain Tom Moore is the guest of honour at the opening of Harrogate Nightingale hospital. Surely this is a bit of a risk.

I think he a national treasure after what he has done - however the I feel the government are using him as a shield the last few days to cover up their failings.
