of course in the UK we would be totally open, honest and transparent..that is the way we do things unlike all these other corrupt, totalitarian regimes...and pesky foreigners....Anyone remember the Mad Cow disease outbreak...Forgive me if my memory is faulty ...but I seem to recall certainly at the outset...a huge degree of secrecy about the causes...and that Mr Gummer stuffing a beef burger in the face of his daughter telling us all was well and that British beef was perfectly safe to eat....

For me this isn't about being slow to react; on that measure you're absolutely right.  But the issue is the initial suppression of the news about the new virus: that you most certainly would not have seen in any Western country. Then, as I said earlier, you have China's blocking of Taiwan from the WHO and the deliberate and systematic propaganda campaign to try to deflect responsibility.

I could add to the list Chinese manufacturers profiting from producing sub-standard products such as testing kits and PPE.

There actually seems to be near consensus among molecular virologists that this virus has not been manipulated, however this doesn't exclude the possibility of an accidental release of a wild sample.

Coronavirus ‘a wake-up call’ to those who disvalue farmers

I thinks it's worth hammering home this one again on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

I’m just hoping this pandemic wakes us up to what we can produce ourselves in the UK, both in farming and in manufacturing.  I think people are starting to realise how fragile our supply chains are and how much we’ve come to rely on imports.  Maybe a renewed ‘Buy British’ campaign will help our economy when lockdown is lifted.

Are you programmed to report at the end on《oldest date》 so the other 7 were March 29th, 30th and 31st?

Had the Chinese done what they should have done and closed their external borders at the same time they shut their internal ones once they knew what the problem was, then IMHO it is likely that the effect the virus had on the rest of the world would have been much less severe than it has been.
