It is a valid point.

I say it is a valid point due to the fact we failed to close our borders at the outset . Once the virus was here in numbers we were stuffed from the begining and the population density made it worse . By not keeping it out as much as possible from the outset put us on the backfoot right away . Who ever gave the scientific advice at the time was clearly not too bright.

I wouldn't pay much attention to this.

What we should be pushing for in the meantime is much, much greater use of antibody testing, starting with anyone who had flu-like symptoms from February onwards.

I've had the monthly summary report through from my car (it emails me once a month) and it strikes me I'll probably not see the likes of this again for several years, if ever*. I expect as the lockdown frays ("stay alert" - what garbage, it implies you don't have to stay at home any more) that I'll be called in more frequently to work, and once the guidelines change for gatherings I will be back to the wolf centre.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the fuel savings and - when I do go out - the much quieter roads.

(* - my plan is to leave the school once the wolves die - the youngest are 9 at the moment - and work from home. I will thus be driving much less, although 100 miles a month - as in April - will be a hard ask!)

The police moved 850 people on from the beaches in Thanet yesterday. The law may still technically be the same, but it'll be damned hard for them to enforce it now that the message has changed...

That's all good, but my point is that (unlike other countries) we didn't adapt quickly

Keep an eye on Germany. The German people are apparently much keener to end lockdown than we are. Therefore, I expect the German federal government and regional states will be minded to keep easing for a while.

The reproduction rate of the virus in Germany has risen above one, causing concern days after some restrictions were eased.

The country's "R-value" - the average number of people a patient will infect - is now 1.1, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for disease control said. [source: BBC]

I really do wonder at what point you stopped being able to reason and just started your regime of unquestioning loyalty to Boris Johnson. It is extraordinary.
