As soon as I saw you had used the Daily Mail to support your argument I stopped reading.

They are never going to be balanced when it comes to this. The RWM remain desperate to get everything going again when clearly our infection rate is far to high.

It attempts to weave a narrative of 'leftism' and 'socialism' and their linked organisations like unions, as a preserve of the 'liberal middle classes', who the narrative seeks to portray as an enemy of the [lower] working classes and similar demographic groups, with their onerous regulations, love of the 'corporate, nation-destroying EU', and unquestioning support for immigrants who take their jobs, and lazy, feckless benefits scroungers pocketing more money than them. Not to mention making them pay more for everything with their climate change lies designed to control us all.

It's all just crocodile tears. Manipulation by a right-wing who view regulations that protect consumers, workers and the environment as blocking the financial elite hoovering up an even greater proportion of productive income - and being able to keep more of it through low taxation levels and inadequate anti-tax avoidance laws.

This right wing has sought to replace what had been the pillars of working class society - communities and unions - with nationalist tribalism and sneering hate towards 'liberal middle classes'.

I find it hard to see that " living with it" for five years is an end of the world scenario. Even if there is no vaccine it would be remarkable if there weren't better treatments and understanding of the virus. Our control methods would be refined as well. Even this Government should have worked out a coherent strategy by then. Remember we are always having to "live with" diseases including the common cold and to an extent flu with no vaccine.

The Kawasaki type illness in children is a concern. So far the virus hasn't triggered immune system overreaction in most young people, which is what the Spanish Flu did

If it mutates to do this, then we are in trouble, but it wouldn't make sense for the virus to start killing its hosts, so most viruses mutate to a weaker form

You see it in action all the time with MM and four. Thing is, both of them are avoiding the virus in the same way as all of us - so they'll spouting hypocritical bollox (there's a thing...)..

Why would anyone go out to try infect themselves.
The point is you can do most of the sensible things to avoid it without having your life micro-managed nationwide by government dictat.

Also, it wasn't by 'government dictat' (sic); it was via a law passed by Parliament.

Here is a hint - the ordinary Joe is not obsessed with the same things most left wingers are, even though that might come as a massive shock to the average Momentum supporter. It is a truism, that there are those on the left who have to find someone or something to blame when they run into the fact that most people don't actually have a leftist worldview.

Coronavirus: Dozens flout lockdown rules for Telford 'rave'

Quote

A group of about 70 people have gathered in a park for a "rave" - flouting lockdown rules and telling police they were "sick of self-isolation". West Mercia Police said a DJ had set up for the party at Granville Country Park in Telford, Shropshire, on Saturday. "We have worked so hard and sacrificed so much and this group decide it doesn't apply," one officer said.

"I'm shocked that people would care so little," they added. Police dispersed the group from the Donnington park at about 20:15 BST.

Officers said they "do not fine unless there is no other action open". They added: "We asked the group to disperse, and they did. "We would ask anyone who is thinking of organising one of these events to think of the bigger picture."

Who says no one is thinking of the kids? A renewed lockdown and blanket school closure due to a spike in infections would be significantly worse than a timely controlled return. That needs to be avoided at all costs. Get the schools open in a way they can steadily return to normal.
