Temperature rise definitely slower than yesterday albeit from an earlier start. Top 11am reading seems to be 29.8 at Heathrow.

I’d estimate a high of around 33 point something today but would be nice to scrape 34.

Not one for keeping stats but it’s already showing 30c at Southend at 11.08am which is usually a few degrees down on the highest. Very uncomfortable.

All eyes on convection today spoiling the heat party. Ideally here in London we stay clear until 5pm then have something cataclysmic just as the sun is going down, with enough fearsome downdrafts and evaporative cooling to sort out my increasingly intolerable indoor temperatures.

So far so sunny: https://en.sat24.com/en/gb

Wonder if the Friday to Thursday period could end up being the hottest week on record for the UK in terms of average daily highest maxima (and possibly highest mean too)?

Looks like the heat might have got to Brian's servers, very slow loading at the moment.

If it stays sunny it is going to be a record breaker here today.

Midday reading at Blackbushe is 30.3 which I think is exactly the same as yesterday. Still virtually cloudless.

hourly increase +1.8c

Could get to 35c again, then it will be 3 days in a row.

As for routers, they're actually little PCs running Linux in most cases. If you let the CPU get too warm it'll underclock itself to save itself (older ones just died!) and if that happens performance will go through the floor.

Don't keep your routers in strong sunlight.

Heathrow 32.1C at midday. July 25 last year was 33.7.

Looks like we should get to 34 for a sixth consecutive day.

Meanwhile I am recording a more bearable 23.7 c  at 12.30 pm here at my coastal edge of Folkestone. Even though humidity are still in the high 70% with very little wind, it is feeling a little fresher (not quite so in-your-face oppressive) when outside.

Thank heavens for that thanks to high cloud from a decayed French cell.

Jiries- if only you still had your legendary shed in Surrey. I wonder what temperatures it would have measured this week!?

The convective bubbling has just started around London. Looking at satellite this is like the first few bubbles on the bottom of the saucepan, not yet the rolling boil. But likely to expand quickly I expect. When will the first tower of castellanus break through and start exploding into a storm?
