Then again these are the environments people live in (not airports, but similar heat islands in urban environments) so perhaps these temperatures are relevant to people's experiences in a way cairngorm summit is not (and is more a meterological curiosity).

iPhone app saying current temp here is 35, not sure where it is getting that from as highest METARS seem to be 34.

Winds at LHR still from the NE / E, which is not the ideal direction for Heathrow maxes. It likes a good strong S or SE flow bouncing over the downs. May get that a bit later as the low pressure edges up towards us.
