A lot of jumping on the bandwagon type discussion on here regarding the Rooney incident borne out of a hatred of Man Utd. I stand by what I said earlier in the thread that while I disapprove of Rooney's behaviour there needs to be some consistensy regarding the sanction......it appears that a number of managers and the PFA agree

For the sake of the game there needs to be rules that all participants in the game understand and that needs to be applied to every team and every player everywhere on the pitch.

Maybe you (and FIO) see this differently, but I view the random swearing by player on the pitch (or coaching staff on the touchline) as palpably different to running over to a camera, thrusting your face into its lens, and swearing down it.

Just to add a bit of context, Robbie Fowler was banned for 4 games for light-heartedly sniffing the touchline in response to taunts from Everton fans that he was a coke-head.

You'd think Rooney had killed a child the way some people are treating him at the moment. The amount of stick he's getting is completely unjustified. I expect to see the PM on television any day now blaming Rooney for ruining a generation of Children with his naughty language!

I find what Rooney did distasteful, but the reaction from some of the media and the public is ridiculous. I think SAF's press conference was great where he said a few words about the superintendent who thought people were interested in what he had to say about it.

"Fergie also had a pop at Superintendent Mark Payne, responsible for managing crime response in Wolverhampton, who said Rooney would have been arrested and locked up had he sworn on his patch on a Saturday night.

"There is an issue in the modern world of a need to be noticed," said Fergie.

"There's a wee guy [police chief] sat down in the Midlands, probably never been recognised in his life, managed to elevate himself to whatever he is in the police force.

"Have you ever seen Birmingham on a Saturday night? Do the police there actually arrest people for swearing on a Saturday night? Dearie me. That's a good one isn't it?"

All this is working in United's favour anyway, siege mentality at the right time.

Bearing in mind what the bookies were saying at the beginning of the season you could put up a strong case for arguing that Ancelotti has been the biggest disappointment among the top five managers this season, closely followed by Mancini.

Big changes afoot at Arsenal. Stanley Kroenke set to buy the club. Wenger to be sacked at the end of the season, Mourinho to take over?

citeh's champions league spot under threat. If they miss out again then Mancini is surely in for the chop. Unless he wins the FA cup perhaps

The Bindippers are coming into a worrying rich vein of form. I'd have been happy with a draw tonight tonight because I still think Citeh will implode.

Good to see the monkey off the Pikey's back, mind. Some excellent signs of him gelling well with Suarez. Hopefully Torres breaks his [even bigger] Chelsea duck tomorrow in spectacular style with a hat-trick.

Assuming we can overhaul Citeh and get fourth, or, we can hang onto our players even if we don't, it's going to be a slugfest between six teams next season.

As for this season, when Hodgson left I don't think anyone with a braincell gave Liverpool any chance of a climbing far enough to grab a CL spot. I still think it's just too much to make up, but looking back at some results since Dalglish took over, we drew 1-1 at home with Wigan and lost 2-1 to both Blackpool and WBA - in all three games we scored first and couldn't hold onto a lead. If we'd conceded just one goal less in each of those games, we'd have been level with your lot (albeit having played a game more) and only one win behind Citeh for 4th.

TBH, I can't see John Henry risking the wrath of the Kop by appointing anyone else. In fact, by giving Dalglish the job, he's in a no-lose situation as far as the fans go. I have my reservations over Dalglish (as I've said on here before), but I'd be happy to see him have a go, because he's certainly turned our seson around - and in the games against the higher-placed teams, he's got his tactics and the effort from the team spot on; it's just when playing cellar-dwellers that we've played crap

Well, well, Arsenal 1 - Liverpool 1.

Hmmm that gives Spurs three reasons to beat Arsenal at WHL on Wednesday (assuming Manure don't do something stupid by losingto Newcastle)

1- Draw level on points with Shiteh

2- Put Arsenal's faint hopes of the title to bed once and for all this season.

3- Ensure the Bindippers have too much ground to make up in their remaining 5 games.

If Spurs can't get up for this game with all of the above going on, they deserve to be collectivley shot.

Drawing three home games against "weak" opposition (including a severly depleted pool), Arsenal dont deserve to become Champions.

Ray Wilkins was really getting on my nerves stating the obvious and spouting cliches all the time. The way he drones on he sounds like he's been drugged up on sleeping pills. Bring back Andy Gray!

Bale wins PFA Player of the Year award.

No great surprise.

Always far better to get recognition from your peers (some of whom will have had practical experience of playing against you) than hollow ringing endorsements from either the media or armchair pundits.

I doubt the outcome would have been that different had the vote cut off point been later. Still, that's academic anyway.
