Thanks for all the good wishes guys.
I've been diagnosed as having Cauda Equina syndrome and am going to have lumbar decompression surgery in the morning.
It was quite a serious case, but thankfully, although incredibly painful, they've diagnosed it early so will hopefully be sorted by the surgery in the morning.
Will see you all on the other side.

To think that it wasn’t too long ago that it was regularly read both on here and the other channel that August isn’t a proper summer month, and that the weather always turns crap for the school holidays.

Thankfully I doubt we’ll be hearing those baseless trite cliches for a while.

Bbc 955 this eve . Looks like potential for some big thunderstorms wed near southern coastal counties as the high pressure pushes down from the north and low to the south . Sunday looks an Atlantic low washout for most before the warm up next week.

We often talk about nature balancing things out, usually with copious rain after a dry spell. Well nature can balance things out by giving us a string of hot dry Augusts.

Looking at the picture across Europe, a little cooler across W Europe week 1, with the hottest weather moved E to the Baltic. W Europe warms up again in week 2, but is pressed by some quite cool weather heading for the British Isles from the NW. Rain quite general across Europe as far east as Poland week 1, reduced in extent week 2 mainly from Norway down to S France but touching the E Coast and N Scotland. 


FAX shows showery troughs persisting through to Thu but increasingly confined to the SE so there will be rain but forecasts of exact location vary from hour to hour. From Friday, Atlantic fronts move in from the W, decaying as they reach the SE.


GFS Op - a more unsettled set of charts today. The current LP fills by Thu but is replaced by LP near Iceland bringing in W-lies from Fri 19th to Tue 23rd. At this point the LP translates into a broad trough over the UK with HP always close to the W, individual small LP centres within the trough NW Scotland Thu 25th, N Sea Sun 28th, Orkney Tue 30th, and moving up from the SW Thu 1st. 


GEFS - briefly cool Sat 20th, mean recovering and in the S staying 2 or 3 C above norm for the forecast period; op & control bullish for a short burst of warmth around Thu 25th. Some rain in the next few days and again damp about Tue 23rd, rather dry thereafter. In the N, temps closer to mean and rain from time to time in most places but esp persistent in NW


ECM - Similar to GFS until Tue 23rd when LP deepens near Iceland and then translates into a more localised trough over the N Sea
