Very boring type but at least we can see more in the way of sunshine under zonal set up in between rain than any cloudy HP.  Not seen the sun this month much due to too much HP around than in October which was mostly HP free month.

Interesting to see right at the end of 06Z GFS another build in pressure to the East after the current one progged in "real" time is gone.

Also a much warmer US and some ridging over us by then.

Maybe where any hints of more settled conditions in long range from METO are coming from.

Is there anyone in this thread that understands anything about weather patterns, amplified hadley cells etc, etc.

16C and sunny forecast today had a epic massive failed, only 11C and cloudy thanks to this horrible HP.  Seem London also failing to reach 18C forecast today and stuck at 12C.

Bring back October zonal weather back please that i saw lot of sunshine in between rain and that good for indoor warmth and easing drought, both win-win.  HP is no good for both as both lose-lose.

Absolutely - you can see that in gardens across the Southern half of the UK. Many plants that used to be the preserve of Scilly and the far Southwest are now prevelant. Think Agapanthus and Echiums for example.

Incidentally our strawberry plants in the garden have produced a fresh crop of ripening fruit this month and there are more flowers all over them! Crazy for November.

On the BBC Weather For The Week Ahead Susan Powell mentioned that it reached 21C in Porthmadog in west Wales today. That is bonkers. Does anyone have a more precise figure, i.e. not rounded to the nearest whole degree?

Been disappointing here during this "warm" spell. Have reached 16C in the last week but the expected highs yesterday and today were just 14C. Yesterday the gloom never really broke and the sun didn't coma through till this afternoon. It has reminded me of what is to come. In recent years, due to their unfavourable position, High Pressure is not something to look forward to any more in winter. It produces endless days of cold grey skies and cool cloudy frost free nights. No use to anybody.

The path these lows take over the next weeks will set the tone for the winter. There are some promising signs for cold if that’s what you want. Optimism is high for colder outcomes
