Yet another overcast morning here in Edinburgh and so, our early winter permacast hell goes on for yet another day.
The big difference with today though is that there are also a number of frequent showers coming in from off the North Sea which are sadly just rain showers.😡
Furthermore, today is also milder than yesterday when the temperature was at least slightly below freezing at round this time.
An official air frost has still been recorded at all three of my local stations but on this occasion, that has only happened because each official observation day runs from 09:00 UTC on one day to 09:00 UTC on the next day, and since the temperature just after 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) was still below freezing.
Based on that, yesterday's official minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was -0.42°C.
If our determination of an air frost was based only on the actual overnight period, that would only based on the last 12 hours and if we went by that, there would be no air frost as the temperature during that period (as shown by rhe 09z data for the minimum temperature) was no lower than +0.41°C.
There was nevertheless, a ground frost but that has probably also happened for those same reasons.
Meanwhile, the temperature ay 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) was now up to around 4°C here in Edinburgh which isn't even all that cold any more!!😡
