After a mostly cloudy morning, it is becoming fair with bright breaks slowly showing up. No rain fell today so my gauge stands at 0.0 mm which makes a change.

17 C & mid 80% H. There is something of a "traditional" maritime taste/feel in the air with winds being a mod SW breeze but making for better air quality, lovely for airing out my famed west-facing hobby room with the window ajar as it was smelling of farts and disappointment inside.

Still raining here. Moderate and steady non-stop, with occasional heavy bursts. We’ve had a few brighter spells when it’s looked like it might stop but then we’re back to what Ian calls Tupperware skies and the rain continues.

Meanwhile, this morning has started off on another dull note with a cold wind. There is still some rain around as well, though nothing like to the same extent as what we witnessed during yesterday.

Currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

11C with thick fog and drizzle again, yesterday we had about 18mm more than twice that near the coast, some places had unexpected flooding due to blocked drains as much as anything though it was thundery type intensity at times through morning..

Another horrible day here in Edinburgh with light rain and drizzle becoming more extensive once again.

In addition to that, the temperatures are also refusing to rise and remain stuck at around 12°C here in Edinburgh which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year.🤢

Back to the usual summer weather... sunny, warm, next to no wind. An effortless 26C upstairs even with the windows open all day, and because of the very long days there won't be any relief for hours yet. The only good thing is that the dewpoint is still relatively low by modern standards.

20.8, dew 11.7, the high today being 21.5.

EDIT: And there won't be a proper night time until July now, as it's perpetual twilight during the wee hours as of today - it's already started further north.

As regards our weather, today has been yet another complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh.

As I write, since 10am BST (09:00 UTC) this morning, a total of 14.8 mm of rain has been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank and it's still raining even now.

In addition to that, temperatures have continued to be pegged back throughout today to no higher than around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

Turned out lovely with near unbroken sunshine all day where the cloud kept well away to my north. The max of 19.1 C at 12 pm and the current 15 C & mid 80% H won't break any heat records but the solar input packed quite a punch.

At long last, it's finally stopped raining here in Edinburgh and that couldn't have happened soon enough as there has been quite a bit of flooding here with the Water of Leith having burst its banks in a number of places.

Just since 10am BST (09:00 UTC yesterday morning), an incredible 44.8 mm of rain has been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank as I write which for the second day in a row, means that yesterday was once again our wettest day of this year so far.

That gives us a total of 80.6 mm of rain in the space of just two days and this means that more than one and a half times our 1991-2020 May average rainfall has fallen in the space of just those last two days.

Although the rain has stopped for now though, it's yet another dull and dreary start to today with a temperature of around 11°C here in Edinburgh.
