I have  question about the rainfall figures on the TWO forecast pages.

There seem to be odd differences between the numbers shown on the different forecast views.  For example, for PH35 (which covers where I spend quite a lot of time in the Highlands), the figures for the three hour periods in the current (02Jul2024 0z) 7 day ‘classic’ view forecast for tomorrow (Weds 3rd) add up to  5.4mm.  The 16 day forecast has 10.8mm.  In the ‘10 day’ view, the row of days across the top has 5.4mm, but the table below says 21.6mm.

The fact that these numbers are exact multiples presumably isn’t a coincidence.  Am I misunderstanding something (entirely possible!), or is this simply a glitch?

(Incidentally, for Thurs 4th, the 10 day table shows 108mm.  I know it rains a lot there, but that would be impressive!)

Are you referring to these forecasts?
7 day

16 day

As an aside, I would recommend the hour by hour forecasts for short range because they use data from Arpege and UKV, e.g.

Yes, but also the 10 day forecast, obtained by pressing the “10 day” button in the “Set view” box below the 16 day table.
(The 10 day option seems to have disappeared from the options nearer the top of the forecast page recently (I think it used to be next to 7 day).  I hadn’t noticed “Set view” until recently, either.)

I'll investigate the rain figures later today and report back.

Rain totals should now be consistent.

The problem was adding in the 10 day view (on Monday) caused the function which sums rain totals to be called twice.

If you’ll forgive my mentioning one other thing, on the new 10 day view, the icons (sunny, rainy, very rainy, whatever) in the row along the top aren’t consistent with the table.  In fact, they all show sunny — which isn’t terribly plausible for the NW Highlands.  (You could make them all rainy, I suppose …. )
