I meant to tell you - several nights this week we've had our gas central heating turn itself on. This happens at 10C unless you specifically override it on the controller. We have done that now - it was unexpected. 20C here now - it's been overcast quite a bit of the day.

Mine's set to come on at 12.5C indoors, and there's no chance of that this side of November. By then I'll change it to its winter setting of 16.5 indoors.

I would expect a sub-10C minimum here in August every 2 or 3 years, and indeed there's a good chance of one on Wednesday morning. Dewpoints are forecast to be much lower than recently, and if winds fall light that's a recipe for a cold morning.
