We managed 28 just yesterday and last night's minimum of 22°C has only ever been beaten twice, in July 2015 and July 2022. Warmest September night ever here, although the minimum shows as 21 due to the read & reset time yesterday.

Here in Edinburgh, we have some very dense fog to start the day. It's also gloomy which means that the early autumn permacast hell goes on, and it's raining as well.

Indeed, there are even some very bright echoes on latest radar map just to my south (I know that Jerry is happily sunning himself in Portugal just now, but Noodle Doodle may well be experiencing a big downpour in that part of Edinburgh just now) but although we're currently under an official Met Office yellow warning for thunderstorms, there are no lightning strikes associated with that.

Currently a rather muggy 14°C here in Edinburgh, but all of this of course is in complete contrast to around this time last year when we had much better weather which even gave us our highest temperatures of the entire year at that time.

So humid again today - another of the sort of days where anything remotely physical will cause buckets of sweat!
At least it's mostly cloudy, I guess, as I've a feeling if the sun were out it would be very warm indeed in this airmass.

...and the sun's come out, and of course the temperature's rocketed - far above the forecast max for today!

Currently it's 25.8, dew 18.0, the high so far being 25.9.

Having been out in the garden for a bit, it's still so humid that you sweat your moobs off when doing much outside. Not at all pleasant.

Weird weather, no sign of any rain on the rain radars I've looked at but for the last 2+ hours we've had heavy drizzle. 18.5c but feels warmer, 93% humidity and no breeze, muggy horrible get wet quick weather, the stuff I can't stand.  I would normally say we need a good thunderstorm to clear the air but we had that yesterday.

After 4 gloriously sunny (albeit slightly humid in the evenings) 29c days in Chamonix (sorry Jiries for gloating, or not) arrived back last night to LHR at 26c and it almost felt like landing in Singapore. Never seen a quieter T2 passport control and arrivals lounge though, so the passport control strike was a blessing to us... thanks!

The min today has been 17.8c and that was at 13:05, currently at 18.4c.

See how we go this evening but a 17.8c min would probably be in the top 5 warmest mins I have recorded here in 14 years.

The earlier fog has now lifted and the rain from earlier on has also cleared.

That rainfall has resulted in an a total of 17.2 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank in the last couple of days which means that although we're only in the second day of the month, we have already had almost a third of our 1991-2020 September average rainfall during this month, so this is already turning out to be a very wet start to this month and to this autumn here.

However, today was also our first completely sunless day of this month and over the first two days of the month, our sunshine total for this month currently stands at a pathetic 0.1 hours (or 6 minutes) of sunshine.😡

Even at the end of this autumn when the days will be a lot shorter than what they are just now, we would still be expecting to see more sunshine than that, so we would excepting to be seeing even more sunshine just now at the beginning of the autumn.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 15.9°C and the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 15°C.

At long last, we finally have our first bright and sunny start to a day of this month and this autumn here in Edinburgh.

Last night was a bit cooler than of late with the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropping to 8.9°C.

Meanwhile, the the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 9°C and quite a lot cooler than it was at this time yesterday.

A different feel (and smell) this morning - it's cloudy for once, and as a result the temperature and dewpoint are that bit lower. Compared to the sauna yesterday it feels more pleasant, even though normally a dewpoint of >16C would be in the muggy category!

And the smell? (Human) muck-spreading! It's a bit later this year for whatever reason, and as expected the local Facebook groups are full of moans from those who don't realise that the countryside does tend to pong a bit this time of year, every year.

It's presently 17.1, dew 16.4, after a low of 16.9 - a mere 4C above average. Yesterday's high was 25.9, again around 4C above.

Perhaps it's not the 'good old healthy smell of the countryside' that some people used to think.

And then on another tack. (The last paragraph is the interesting one to bear in mind in a crowded work or transport space)

It's been a nice, sunny day here in Edinburgh with a total of 11.1 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank which is actually quite impressive given that we're now only three weeks away from the Autumn Equilux which will come a few days after the Equinox itself.

However, there is a wind from off the North Sea and it has also gradually clouded over from the east.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 16.4°C and the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 14°C.

Another warm and muggy night, but for once there was some rain - 3.2mm fell overnight, and there's a chance of more today.
It's currently cloudy with a breeze from the NE. 15.8, dew 14.8, the low so far being 14.9.
Yesterday's high was 21.2.

Here in Edinburgh, there is a lot more cloud around than there was at this time yesterday but there is plenty of clear sky to my east and NE which allowed us to witness a really nice sunrise and with the wind coming from that direction, I'm still confident that we might see some decent sunshine during today at some point in time.

Last night was milder than the previous night with an overnight minimum temperature of 11.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 13°C.
