Dull and very muggy this morning, with just the very odd light puff of wind. It feels like it should be chucking it down, but there's no rain within 30 miles of here! The fog has thinned into borderline mist, with visibility now around a kilometre.

18.3, dew 17.8, 97% RH.

After a cheeky thundery shower passed by to the south of Folkestone early this morning, the rest of the morning turned out dull and damp where the 1.8 mm so far today seems a lot more. 18.4 C & mid 90% H but winds has swung around to as light onshore SW breeze.

Southend (14 miles away, or 10 miles further north) is reporting 23 with variable winds. Shoeburyness, closer still, 21. Yet here it's 18.6, and the high so far is only 18.8. Winds here are SW'ly, but light.

Meanwhile as with this morning, a few miles south there are more heavy downpours. I do wish some of them would edge just that bit further north, but it's unlikely - the centre of the shallow low is close by.

I expect a flourish once the rains return (whenever that is, might even be tomorrow night if we're lucky)... but there's not many months left in the growing season.

No significant rain here to speak of last few days but astonishing period of seriously thick fog off sea especially over high ground. It is mostly about 14C constantly.
Even five miles further inland was quite warm and sunny yesterday.

Yesterday had to drive over moors I probably go over there once a week on average since about 1980 so could 'almost' drive it blindfold but confess there was a point I lost track of where I was due to following a car crawling at 30mph.
There are very few recognisable landmarks for about 15 miles and it was so thick and gloomy I kept thinking I could see dark trees on both sides (which aren't there... )
