Calm, muggy and misty here this morning, the polar opposite of yesterday evening. Torrential rain and thunderstorms with a local weather station recording 87mm of rain yesterday with 43mm falling between 8pm and 9pm and 18mm in 15 mins! Some spectacular video of flash flooding on social media.

A 4th day of this, south of Edinburgh, have to keep checking the date on the webcam!
Makes me enjoy the hot Portugal sun even more! 😎

We have had a Met Office Yellow Warning on Rain affecting the East Midlands, including Lincolnshire.
Headline: "Areas of heavy, possibly thundery rain may cause flooding and disruption in parts of England and Wales on Saturday night and Sunday."
Hope not. I was planning to be in The Woods tomorrow morning!

Here in Edinburgh, our permacast hell goes on.

Both yesterday and today started off with thick fog which lifted during yesterday, and which has lifted today as well but it continues to remain gloomy with not even the slightest hint of any brightness.

It's currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh (that was also yesterday's maximum) and given that it's autumn, that's still not too bad for this time of the year.

However, the vast majority of Scotland is quite a lot warmer than that just now and we're not even getting any benefits whatsoever from those exceptionally warm upper air temperatures which are being experienced in this part of the world just now.

Finally, we have a bit of sunshine coming through all of that easterly muck here in Edinburgh.

We bailed out of our holiday on the South Coast and headed home a day early. Today in Aboyne is probably the nicest day this whole summer - mellow sun and blue skies,  temperatures up to 23C and almost no wind. Perfection!
