It's now day 5 of our latest permacast hell here in Edinburgh and this time, the dampness is back as well.

In addition to that, there has also been some recorded rainfall although that only amounts to just 1.2 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and it doesn't appear to be actually raining here just now.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh.

Wow, a very strange bright object has just appeared in the sky (could that actually be the Sun by any chance?).

It's still mostly cloudy with a temperature of around 12°C but it's suddenly become a lot brighter now.

That little bit of brightness didn't last for long and it's now raining here in Edinburgh.

However, even that little bit of brightness is still better than nothing at all and we even got our first glimpse of the Sun with that since last Thursday.

In addition to that, today is also a little bit warmer than other recent days at around 14°C here in Edinburgh.

Last night was a cold one with a ground frost and an overnight minimum temperature of 1.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, this morning has started off on a bright and sunny note which is something that hasn't been seen here for quite a while.

Currently around 2°C here in Edinburgh.

EDIT:

I've just noticed that there is a little bit of visible frost on one or two of the rooftops and this is the first time that I've noticed that this season, even though last night was only our second coldest night of the autumn so far.

In complete contrast to yesterday, today has started off on a wet and miserable note here in Edinburgh.

Last night was milder than the previous night but with a raw easterly wind coming straight in from off the North Sea.

Indeed, I would imagine that our fellow members in the south of Edinburgh (Jerry and Noodle Doodle) will no doubt be wishing that we were about three months further on just now than where we are because if we were, this may well have been quite a decent snow event with this sort of setup in those higher and more inland parts, possibly including the south of Edinburgh (that would probably have been less likely to have been the case here in NW Edinburgh due to the North Sea being relatively warm at that time of year).

Currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh.

10.8C with moderate ENE wind picking up.
It has been raining for 12 hours but intermittently total is probably quite modest about 20mm allowing for wind losses.
Some stations near coast have counted 40mm some are a bit suspect but we are somewhat sheltered from east but won't be as the watery onslaught veers more to NE later.

Light drizzle now, it was a lot heavier a couple of hours ago but seems to be lightening up with some blue patches appearing in the distance. 14.9c and barely any breeze.

The rain has now cleared away but not before a total of 20.0 mm of rain was recorded from this particular event at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes yesterday our wettest day off this autumn so far by quite a considerable amount.

It's still cloudy but with a few breaks now appearing in that cloud cover, especially to my north.

However, there is still a cold wind with maximum gusts of around 40 mph from the NE.

In addition to all of that, the temperature at what is now coming up to midday (BST) at Edinburgh Gogarbank is still in single figures at only 9.7°C.

Eye of the storm passed over here about half an hour ago. Violent circulating winds and torrential rain as it passed through. Looking at the radar there's a strong hook-shaped feature, maybe a sting jet?

The storm total seems to have been about 45mm though since it was very windy could easily have been 10mm more not caught in bucket.
I see others nearby are much higher than my VP2 but we are very exposed.
It is still very windy from north with brief heavy showers rattling through and 8.5C
