As John mentioned, another cold start to the night. Frosty and -1 C when I went to bed but the milder cloudy weather has spread north and it's now +5 C

For the second night in a row, an official air frost has been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport with the temperature dropping to -1°C at Edinburgh Airport but last night wasn't quite as cold as the preceding night as it then clouded over in the early part of this morning with the temperature then jumping up.

As I write, there is still the odd bit of sunshine at times but it is now mostly cloudy.

Currently around 6°C here in Edinburgh.

Misty and murky - with just a light breeze from the SE. The change in airmass is making itself felt, with the dewpoint close behind the air temperature as it rises.

Starting to brighten up here at Folkestone making the current 16 C & mid 90% H feel balmy-like in light winds.

Feels like there is no need to have the heating on.

13.5, dew 12.9, the overnight so far low being 13.3. Yesterday's high was 16.8, and I'm expecting the low 20s today - the MetO raw has 21, for example. While not terribly unusual to get 20 this late in the season, it'll make a marked difference to the feel of things compared to the weekend!

15.1C cloudy.
Feels incredibly mild (I've just put the rubbish out) - continuing this year's feature of high average temps being founded on mild/warm cloudy nights.

It's going to be a warm night, I think...

Peaked at 23.0 exactly here - a warm, summer-like afternoon. (FWIW, I have a Davis VP2 with fan, and it's been breezy, I'm confident it's not over-read either).

The chap over the road also has a weather station, a cheaper Youshiko, and that recorded a max of 22.9.

Currently 21.7, dew 18.1, a lovely day.

A fine end to the day where it is stiil feeling balmy at 20.0 C on the nose under setting sun in clear skies despite a freshening southerly breeze. It has been cloudy off and on during the day so it was nice to experience this Summer's final fling.

As I write, we're just over two weeks away from Hallowe'en and tonight's weather is quite appropriate for that as dense fog has closed in here in Edinburgh, and it's raining as well with all of that giving everything a very eery and spooky look.

In spite of that though and despite all of the cloud cover, today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank still reached a rather warm (for this time of year) 15.6°C.

Despite what Jerry said above, that wasn't enough to make today our warmest day of the year so far (for that, we have to go back to 5 October 2024 when the temperature reached 16.2°C at that same station) but today was our second day of this month so far.

Furthermore, the temperatures are now generally refusing to drop and remain stuck at around 13°C, so it looks as though we will be having to endure yet more double figures overnight minimums for the second night in a row.🤢
