Yep, Downing appears to have gotten one cross in at least.

What's the betting he gets sent off for one of his trademark late, thuggish, two-footed challenges? Hopefully.

Shows how pathetic they are, and the false opinion they have of themselves if they thought this season was going to be anything other than a relegation battle. I don't like Warnock either, but he has been shite on.

Shame really. again I may not like him much, however he had been good for the club generally.

And he never was given a chance for decent funds in the transfer window to compete.

TBH, I don't think Colin did that bad a job at QPR, given the resources he had available as far as the playing staff was concerned.

I quite like Warnock , can't get my head around the sacking really. What a good job he has done, where do QPR really think they will finish. Maybe the QPR board should speak with Mr Whelan at Wigan, he understands every season they will have a battle to stay up and realise how well Martinez has done for them.

Much debate in the press and forums regarding Scholes...... It doesnt take a genius to work out that the resigning of Scholes is a short term fix and papering over the cracks in Man Utds midfield. I feel Man U require 3 possibly 4 world class players to bolster their squad, Yes their are some quality young players like Cleverley, Jones, Smalling and the da silva twins along with Pogba and Morrison however Man U squad is quite thin. Is fletcher, Anderson and Carrick really Man U class ..? when you look at the formidable players that have played in the centre of midfield. Fergie needs funds to spend on Sneijder / Modric  possibly Cahill in defence  another top class forward and possibly a Goalie - De Gea is struggling, Lindegaard is a slightly better option.

Cahill to Chelsea. Three year deal with the option of a fourth, apparently.

Carroll back to Newcastle...15m? According to the Times, who do not usually print red top crap. If this is true Liverpool must have a replacement lined up..

He's still only young and has a lot of potential to improve. Indeed, he looked a top player at Newcastle. I remember other big blokes like Niall Quinn and Drunken Ferguson struggling to find consistent form for a couple of years, before adapting their game and becoming legends at their respective clubs.

I think Liverpool's (Dalglish's) conundrum is to find a way of using him more effectively. That doesn't mean reverting to a game based predominantly on route one football, but being able to vary the teams style throughout a game, to include placing the ball on a charging-forwards Carroll's bonce, but also the intricate passing moves they've done well this season at times. I guess they could start by stressing to Downing that putting in crosses is quite an important facet of what's expected of him.

And if you reckon I've said all the above rose-tinted stuff because the thought of signing Darren Bent scares the bejesus out of me, you could have a point...
