Frensham pond... the big one or the small one? The big one I remember for being bordered by 'Bacon Lane' which forms part of an excellent cycle route

Water was really warm (and I am a total wimp when it comes to swimming in cold water!) My watch which has a thermometer on it was reading 25C while swimming.

Just noticed the humidity . . . a bone dry 36%! Temperatures has also crept up a little to 22.4 C, that would give a dewpoint of 8.8 C.
No wonder why it is feeling fresh and airy in the house. Sadly, that can't be doing the lawn much good as it's turning more and more straw-coloured by the day.

Hot and sunny. Anyone bored yet?

PS: What do the long-range charts say about this winter's propsects?

28.2c was as good as it got, not that I'm complaining.

Temp is dropping away now. Currently 25.8c

Well I ain't lying when I say that the upper sky is opaque and there is a lot of quite large Cu floating around (probably 70% cloud cover). Indeed if you zoom in on the MetO visible radar you can see it all as clearly as the disgracefully low resolution image allows.

Yesterday we went out for some al fresco dining and spent the evening chasing menus and napkins around as the wind whipped them up. It was pretty cloudy then and certainly not balmy.

Saturday was quite cloudy as well, and when we went out to a BBQ on Friday evening in Pudsey the sky was quite threatening. It was pleasantly warm at about 19C, but nothing 'special'.

Wednesday was cloudy all day.

We had one 'clear blue sky'day, and that was a week ago on Friday.

As you say, during this entire spell, only one day has been completely clear. I saw far more clear days in February than I have during summer. I also suspect temperatures will be positively unremarkable.

Sorry for the moan - it's been pleasant enough, but I feel for us, it's a case of 'close, but no cigar'.

Reached 28.5 °C here, the second highest of this spell (and of 2013) despite rather more cloud. Still 27.4 °C now.

Now this is fascinating. Humidity has fallen down to a bone dry lips cracking 24%! With air temperature at 22.0 C, that would produce a dewpoint of 0.5 C.

My Vegas trip taught me a valuable lesson. I don't actually hate heat, it's the humidity which kills it for me.

It's down to 24C here now, after the hottest day of the year so far (28C). One more really hot day (for here), followed by a refreshing NE'ly. The heatwave will thus ease considerably here.

I finally get to join the heatwave party.

Today was the stuff of dreams...28c at Maidstone earlier and on returning to the coast this afternoon I was greeted with a temperature of 25.3c in a light warm sea breeze.

To top it all off i've just recorded my lowest ever relative humidity since the arrival of the VP2 back in July 2008.

At 6pm with a temperature of 23.0c my relative humidity fell to 32% and a dewpoint of 5.5c !

Off into the garden with my peppermint tea in a temperature of 21.4c, a dewpoint now of 11.8c. Wind is calm.

Brilliant..bloody brilliant !
