I could sleep right through today without much trouble if it wasn't for the noisy kids in neighbouring gardens, relentless pigeon hooting and even the odd bit of petrol-powered chainsaw action.

The temperature and humity seems almost perfect for dozing off; not so low that you get a chill but not so high that you end up glued to the chair by a thin layer of sweat

23.3°C as of 1pm - long way from a heatwave today!

Agreed Leedslad123 as it was nearly clear this morning when I got up at 7.15am which I thought it was burning back.

Increasingly cloudy here with a fresh breeze. Certainly no heatwave today. May get 21'C

I wondered what the public will react if they went to the beaches, outdoor swimming pool and outdoor places expecting lot of sunshine today.

While it's by far the coolest day of the week here, 17c at 2pm, at least the sun burned off the haar, which I didn't expect.

Meanwhile for western and much of Highland Scotland the heatwave is probably peaking. 29.5c at Prestwick yesterday and some warm temperatures this afternoon with 28c at Aviemore, 27c at Altnaharra and even 24c for the Hebrides (Benbecula, South Uist).

Hi all, it is bloody typical of the weather to be hot and sunny all week, then come weekend clouds roll in from the east. At 5.30 am when i went to work it was blue skies YIPPEE! untill dinner time the clouds rolled in from the east, now this would of been welcome midweek (working in one sweatshop) but nope it had to be weekend, and Sunday is going to be the same. But then! on Monday it all clears and is sunny and hot again. I think the overall weather for the uk at the moment is brilliant and just what we needed. the question is will it be around at the end of August and the first week os September.

Until the end of the 'high-res' GFS run, the max temps IMBY would roughly be (including today):

21/7: 24C
22/7: 28C
23/7: 29C
24/7: 27C
25/7: 27C
26/7: 24C
27/7: 24C
28/7: 24C

No below average days at all. The mean max temp here could get within a degree of July 2006!

Forecast on the BBC this morning going for 34C in London tomorrow.

The temperature has only reached 34C in the UK on 5 days since 1999. The last time being in 2006.

Here is a list of the days when the temperature has reached 32C or more somewhere in the UK since 1999

Another completely overcast start. It's supposed to burn off to complete sunshine, but then it was yesterday as well and it didn't.
