For Somerset I would think late Monday into Tues is the prime period with a trough moving in from the WSW.

Eyes up Weymouth/Bournemouth and locality. Lower storm motion may be NNE, but the instability vector is due N.

Looks like the fireworks has started earlier than I thought. However, I think this one is too far to my west so I may have to carry on waiting for a little while longer.
Enjoy it to those who are getting it anyway.

It feels like the day before a holiday you saved hard for and waited for all year.

Some places are going to get smashed in the next few days..who, where and when is anyones guess.

Good luck all..let the fun begin. .

It looks like things are exploding into life in the Channel South of Weymouth and Torquay area. I noticed here the rapid formation of the Altocumulus Castellatus Clouds usually indicative of thunder coming soon. I think tonight could become quite lively in Southern England and maybe here before morning. Still 22.0C outside at 22:00.

That bridge of warm and humid air pumping up through the Channel makes all the difference. Instead of storms leaving the French coast and withering, they are generating in La Manche before tracking onto English shores.

Looks like a nasty cell heading for Weymouth, might be an alarm clock for people who've gone bed early down there

Kudos to NAE which was fairly isolated earlier with an area of storms from Dorset to Surrey from 23Z to 03Z.
The activity looks increasingly elevated but is putting on a good show with 10-15 strikes per minute south of Bournemouth.

I'm in Seaton (East Devon) - Been on the beach watching cunims to the east in the Channel and now a whole area coming ashore here with loud thunder and torrential rain. Impressive shelf clous as well but too dark to film!
