The last time, England played a Test match without Cook was the 3rd Test against India in Mumbai, way back in March 2006!

The record by the way is Allan Border with a staggering 153 consecutive Tests, from March 1979 to March 1994. Amazing.

Crikey I never realised this, Alastair Cook has played 92 consecutive Test matches!

The last time, England played a Test match without Cook was the 3rd Test against India in Mumbai, way back in March 2006!

The record by the way is Allan Border with a staggering 153 consecutive Tests, from March 1979 to March 1994. Amazing.

James Taylor possibly in for Pietersen. I would love whiever comes in for Pietersen to do really well indeed and keep him out of the test side for the rest of the summer. His injury can't hide the fact that he has no form at the moment and they only thing carrying him was his past reputation. Would rather have a younger in form player in the side than him.

KP to me signifies past glories now, the team are moving on and there is some great youngsters coming through. If / when KP does come back this summer he needs to get himself in shape / form. No doubt he will be in the squad to come south later this year but he shouldn't be an automatic choice these days, needs to know that there is someone that can come in at his slot and score runs if he doesn't.


I agree though, a fully fit and firing KP can turn a game on its head.

I think he played the last two tests in the 1981 Ashes with a broken finger, making a century in a losing cause in the 5th Test (the same match as Botham's 118)

Just e reading / listening to the local media about the up coming test to gauge Aussie feeling and I have to say that it is surprisingly upbeat! I honestly think that the Aussie believe that if they can nick a result at Old Trafford that they can still win the Ashes! Now that is optimism.


This new found optimism seems to be based on the fact that Warner smashed 190 odd against some African village side last week, aparently Warner is the new saviour that will come in and smash England all over, on and off the oval no doubt

It'd be harsh on Bresnan after a great performance last time out - but I'm a big fan of the 'horses for courses' theory of picking sporting sides, and I think England can be too cosy in their selections at times.
