Interesting contest coming up: good player of spin bowling against a good spinner on a turning pitch. One of the many reasons I enjoy test cricket.

Ok here is a Q

If Cook continues his poor form with the bat and England keep winning, does he stay as Captain? Does he keep his place in the side but lose the captaincy or does he get dropped altogether

Mark Taylor had a bad period of batting and was under pressure in the lead up to the Ashes of 1997. Greg Chappell had a bad patch as Aussie captain when he seemed to be going off every time with a duck to his name.

Nasser Hussain had a real bad patch in 2000 but England won against the Windies for the first time in 30 odd years.

You don't change your captain when our team is on form and winning unless the captain is injured. It's the Aussies in a mire not England.

Clarke could still get a ton here but we will still win by more than 300 runs probably. Amazing! Worse Aussie top order in their history I reckon.

I am not too sure of Nassers comment about there being alot of pressure on Swann to deliver, there isn't any pressure on when you are defending 500+..............surely

Pattinson looks good with the bat, you can see why he was opener for Aussie under 19's, wonder why he isn't further up the order

This isn't even a contest. Pathetic from the convicts. This series is over. It won't go down as a classic either as there is only one team in it. The worst convict batting lineup I've seen in my lifetime. Embarrassing.

For the 3rd test I suggest we don't replace Pietersen and just have 10 men.   Might make it a slightly more interesting game?

* edit that's not entirely true, but you know what I mean, our win was never in doubt

Bring in Onions to replace Pietersen?   He can bat as well as Pietersen has so far, and we have another bowler to boot?

Michael Holding has just basically said this convict's side is a bag of shite. He's right.

Where do they go from here apart from home in disgrace at the end of the summer?

As the Beeb says, the conditions favour putting the Aussies in immediately, given the cloudy conditions, so it seems daft England continuing to bat.

Given the potential for storms Monday (one hefty storm could deposit enough surface water on a hard outfield to wreck half the day) we absolutely categorically should have put them in for an hour last night. A tricky session where you'd have backed us to take a wicket or two against tired players who've been in the field for two days, but no. The record run chase clearly not enough for Cook. He wants to add another 100+ runs on top for no reason whatsoever, or is he putting personal milestones (Root) in front of the team goal? If so he needs his head seeing to.

Batting on this morning in cloudy, muggy conditions, with the lead we have and the forecast for sun this afternoon is stupid. Just stupid.

Point remains. There was no need to bat on like that.

As it turns out if we had completely forfeited our second innings we'd have still won. That's what a drubbing it was.
