I'm 'celebrating my 50th birthday party on Saturday evening in Chichester....apart from about 5 mins worth of rain on Tuesday morning, we've had no rain here for pretty much the whole month of July.. ironcially its looking like it could be a very wet evening.. Yell.we've got about 50 people coming and our lounge will accommodate about 20 or so, so we were desparately hoping for a dry evening....

Can anyone out there offer me some crumbs of comfort?  any chance that the storms will have cleared the Chichester area by early evening or will be delayed until after midnight??

it would be very ironic if this evening turns out to be the only soaking night the  whole of July and this is the evening I chose for my party..Laughing

But I could do with the rain for my garden just round the corner

Probably something inbetween. Looks like a nowcasting event to me.

EDIT: There is something very nasty going on over france, looks like alot of potential energy there and a storm front. The forecasts may change and bring it a little further north over the channel and S england I suppose. I wouldn't be comfortable having to give a forecast, I don't know about anyone else.

Very interesting - I also celebrated my 50th birthday in Chichester, but on July 6th and it was a beautiful day!

I wish you every bit of luck going, but it is parched round here now.

Well done on joining the 50 club!

From a rough glance I'd prepare for rain/storms from around 3pm.

happy birthday. weatherwise it looks like turning extremely wet in your area by saturday evening 40-50mm possible. however things might change and it is only a fragmented band of showery rain or it might stay over the channel. wont really know till it happens.

thanks guys again!  interesting, Augusta that you beat me to this landmark by just a few weeks!  glad to hear that you had good weather too!

Just back from getting another gazeboLaughing  From everyone's comments and latest forecasts... I'm working on basis of very heavy rain mid afternoon onwards.. may ease off early evening for a short while but with potential for further heavy downpours to follow!

anyway.  most of the garden will soon be under cover!!

thanks everyone for their expert thoughts.. really appreciatedLaughing
