As I mentioned this morning, that area of energy and instability is moving up through Wales into NW England and the N. Midlands. A real rash of showers breaking out in these areas, with some electrification likely over the next few hours.

Disappointing last night as there was no thunder or lightning here. Did have torrential rain though.

A cell just passed overhead in Stoke. No lightning but some deep rumbles of thunder and some downpours. Nothing impressive but still its some activity.

Thundery showers and storms around this area between 2 and 3pm BST. Again, mostly cc activity and the most active storm passed by 4 miles to the east. Very humid and calm/very light winds.

Torrential downpour with lightning and thunder, nice to see at last!

Some notable wind gusts here, over 30mph at times and with a few whirlwinds.

South of Poole there is a distinct hook-shaped feature that's been developing for the past hour. It's clearer to see from the satellite imagery than the radar. It has me thinking of that TORRO outlook...

Very close here that torrential downpour with a few big spots of rain passing just to the SE of here with strong gusty winds.

A couple of big rumbles earlier, looking very dark to my NW.

Mostly sunny and warm here, maxing out at 25C, but there are lots of impressive Cbs around making for some nice cloudscapes. Looking at the satellite and radar imagery that clump of stuff that Stormchaser mentioned south of Poole looks to be on course to hit here before too long though...

A single crack of thunder here recently.  Only a few spots of rain though.

EDIT:   Just had a sudden brief torrential shower.

Terrific day for thunder here. A storm developed overhead and produced constant thunder for about 10 minutes - it then slowly tracked out into the Irish Sea thundering away for another hour or so. In the meantime another storm developed across Belfast lough and it has been thundering for about an hour now so that's about 3 hours of audible thunder here - not bad at all!

Tipping it down here. The shower developed very rapidly on hitting the South Coast - so things could get interesting when the more active stuff turns up in the next hour or so.

The shower has formed a narrow line with a slight bow shape, but there's no lightning around. It's also dead calm after the windy conditions earlier. The smell of rain wafts in through the window... and it's still very muggy feeling. Temp's probably dropped a few degrees from the 22°C seen an hour or so ago.

Shame there was this decaying shower cloud beforehand that obscured this more impressive feature.

Wouldn't be surprised to here a crack of thunder now that it's moving away north of me.

A cell has just appeared to the SW of here, and it has started raining. Seems like things are developing right above here, and will no doubt develop into a full-on storm to the NE.

Stayed dry here. A few showers almost made it here judging by the radar but all died out before making it this far.

Today and yesterday both non-events for Chichester - some not very heavy rain and one rumble of thunder, while both eat and west of us has been copping it.

Large storms passed over about 2 hrs ago here on the Wirral.

Was driving to Manchester and back between 4-6pm, followed one large cell up, and on the way back was able to see its structure in the low sun.   Fantastic structure - no picture due to driving.  Large wide and flat top to the storm, probably a couple of miles across.  Torrential rain underneath too.  Then another cell movede through Wirral area about 6pm. Very Briht Lightning and thunder.  again, very clear ceiling to the storm once it had passed.  No Mamatous cloud - which was disapointing.
