I got to 24C today which was at least 4 degrees more than we thought we'd get. A high humidity as well.

Aye, I noticed when I got home it was 22.3c - pretty close to average - despite today being overcast, wet and breezy .......  What does it take to get a cold summer's day?!!!!

Already 21.0C going to be a warm one today but I think it will be tempered later by thick sea fog patches.

Already feeling very warm and muggy - I can see myself recording today as being the hottest day of the year for my back yard (going for 28 C this afternoon - assuming the Channel sea fog doesn't come racing in too soon!).

Think it will become the hottest day of the year. I doubt we will exceed today's temp with cooler days ahead for the forseeable future.

Been unable to get onto this site all day

Currently around 31 degrees and haven't seen a cloud all day. Shame I'm stuck in the office!

Anyway, the brief plume has me at 29.5'C here, very close to my highest this year. Humidity at 55% making it feel sticky despite the fresh wind

I'm recording 27.7 C here at my coastal location which does make it the warmest day of the year in my own books. However, the humidity is adding to the heat.

I wonder how Matty is getting on at London. However, over here, it is being remarkably quiet, glad this is occurring on a weekday and not in the weekend.

Pershore 31.3c at 16z - so officially the warmest day of the year in this part of the country.   And I rather suspect my garden will have easily beaten the 31.6c I recorded on 13th July

My station which is situated in my little suntrap of a garden is recording 34.9 right now (it recorded a max of 35.3 on 22nd July). A more sheltered sensor in deep shade has 32.5. The one in full sun shows 37.6!

Yes the 30Cs are more widespread today than they were at the peak of the heat in July, when it was very much confined to the SE. Nowhere is showing a rounded max of 34C just yet so looks like 33.5C hasn't been breached but it will be close!

Either way it will get the August CET off to a flier!

My car showed either 33.0C or 33.5C all the way home (a journey of 12 miles along little country roads and a bit of dual carriageway). My back garden sensor is showing 33.4C and I see no reason to disbelieve it! Staggeringly hot for here, it's only the second time in my 33-year life that it's been this warm here. The other time was the 10th August 2003 and it's no surprise that conditions are virtually the same as that day - SSE'ly breeze, 20C 850s etc.

EDIT: Dewpoint is 20C here and it's an absolute stinker for getting anything done. Even the heat fans are moaning now!
