It feels hot in Manchester, not sure if someone can verify it but we may have hit 30C today officially...might make it the hottest day of the summer!

The sultry feeling is now kicking in over here, especially with temperatures at 25.9 C (actually risen from 25.3 an hour ago!) and 66% humidity giving a dewpoint of 19.1 C.
It's like something out of "It ain't half hot, mum" in here with rivulets of sweat dribbling down the back of my legs. The last time I had that was when I was working in my former tomato greenhouse workplace.
Skies are quite clear now, and at this point I've decided there is no point in looking out for any possible storm-related activity tonight.

Max today in my garden was within a whisker of 32C.

It felt hot sticky and unpleasant.

No more of this for the rest of the Summer please, that's enough for one year

Fantastic conditions tonight. The cloud was stubborn this morning but broke in the afternoon sending temps rocketing. Think it was 29C. Conditions tonight are lovely...warm and humid...t-shirt off in the garden past darkness and still feeling warm. If only we had more days like today.

Hottest day for 7 years here on the coast at the corner of Kent. Maxed at 30.3c. Thats the second highest behind the astounding 33.2 c of 19 July 2006. Still sitting out in garden. Have moved from Brazilian beer to Spanish wine:-)

Max of 34.2C here and will wait for another 30mins to talk to my brother online to let me know what the temps outside now.  28C on my car temps at 9.30pm and that beat last month 27C at 9.30pm time.  Really amazing day today with truly hot air blasting around instead of cooler sea breeze type.

I am sure the sea temps over the channel would see big rises as the hot air flow over it.

Today's maximum of 34.2C beats the 34.1C set on 25th July 2006. So we have to go back to 19th July 2006 and the 36.5C at Wisley (highest July temperature on record) to find a warmer day in the UK.

Reached a very impressive 32.2C here today. Warmest day locally since 1 July 2009 when it hit 32.6C.

The hottest day of the year IMBY at 32.2c! 😁 [sn_appr] [sn_appr]

Closest official station, Filton, registered 31c. Stunning.

So where was I? In Bournemouth as it turned out. Got the missus to swap the sweat of London for a day at the beach. A wonderful day it was too. I can't remember the last time I had a homegrown tan like this. I'm thinking of changing my name to Abdul.

With no gradual build up occuring, today was a classic example of the blowtorch effect that can produce dramatic rises in temperature across a relatively short period.

It's even more marked here, as temps have already dropped to 17.4°C from a high of 30.2°C at 5:15pm. During home-grown hot weather the temperature is usually holding up into the 20's still. In this case, the blowtorch is shifting away east, with fresher air starting to work it's way in - but thanks to higher night-time humidity values (typical occurance) it's hardly noticeable yet in terms of comfort indoors.

Tomorrow IMBY looks to be anything from 20°C to 24°C depending on which model/forecasting institution you refer to... a one day roaster but perhaps very pleasant in the following days

Bournemouth can be fantastic when there's a blowtorch from the south, good to hear you had a good day Matty Abdul

Must say, I couldn't stop staring at my own arms after spending many hours cycling in strong sunshine. When working at home to distant deadlines, spotting a day like this almost a week in advance leads to very effective management of workloads Daresay I needed the break after the past couple of days, which had me indoors a lot of the time due to my arch enemy, Dr. Drizzle
