I'd be interested to know how far north the thunderstorms to the north of Scotland will travel to. These are currently at the same latitude as Iceland (and same longitude as Shetlands).

A cell passed over head around 30 minutes ago. It seemed to have weakened in terms of electrical activity but still some good rumbles of thunder and the rain was just insane. I've seen storms in Texas and Florida but that rain was gushing along with a strong gust making it even more incredible. Got some footage to upload and photos later.

Just had a thunderstorm here in Exeter. Luckily passing over just before I head out on the town. That's the third one in a week.

I think this must be some kind of record for the number of thundery events I've seen occuring across parts of the UK without anything of note here - jelousy at a maximum, especially after my grandparents in Dorking witnessed a fantastic, very electrically active thunderstorm this morning

Lightning to my south AND west. I don't know which direction to look in! The one to the south is far more impressive but is somewhat obscured by my house.

An active storm passed by here within 2 miles to the east, between 8 and 8.30pm BST. Under the anvil top again but not a drop of rain! An intense double rainbow appeared against the dark backdrop with the low angle sunshine. A few flashes and rumbles up 'til around 10pm, all of these again to the SE and E. Some rain a little later on, but not enough to deter me sitting out on the garden bench lightning watching in the dark! A rare treat!

As promised some photos from this evening. In a random order but some amazing cloudscapes and a double rainbow which lasted for a good hour in the same position...something I've never seen before. After the storm was the most amazing sunset. Superb stuff!

A cracking wee storm bustled it's way through here earlier on, some good strikes and brilliant views with the setting sun illuminating the broiling clouds. The fact it was being viewing from a public house beer garden was a major plus. natch.

Just seen several distant flashes to the southwest of me, not sure if they're heading this way yet, too much low cloud to distinguish the location.

Looking Raintoday radar it looks as though they've already passed by.

Meanwhile, back here in stormless Arborfield (not had one yet this year) - the radar looks, ahem, interesting. Off to observe.

Thunder and lightning in Portsmouth.... for once. Not severe but there could be more as a band of storms run SW-NE across this region.

I have been watching lightning flickering away to the SE - the Portsmouth / West Sussex storm. Obviously too far away to hear any thunder. I think the edge of the anvil is almost over us, it's obviously quite a large system.
