I am unable to watch the match so relying on TMS. They are commenting on the poor weather forecast  I believe the sun is shining as well.

Poor lbw review from Cook it would seem.

There's a blob of rain on the radar heading for OT... just in time for the lunch interval and should have cleared within, say, 40 minutes. :-S

We're going to lose this. Complacency and poor play have led to this. If they lose the series from here, then they should never be forgiven.

At this rate we could be relying on the poor weather forecast for Durham later this week/next week.

2-1 in the series.

Disgraceful performance matched by a disgraceful forecast.

Is there any hope that the weather will save us in time?

Doesn't look hopeful to me - can't see more than the odd shower/drizzle later on.

I'm moving to the idea of DRS being umpires only - none of this 2 per side nonsence. But they have to look at how the 3rd umps are applying it. I still can't fathom Agars not out in the first test, or Kawaja's out in this one.

I make that 10 referrals in the match and none successful?

In the case of Pietrerson the 3rd umpire said there a definate sound and his bat was away from his body.

Hope that helps

Out top order batting hasn't been great, you guys will hammer me for this but Cook has to step down as captain, if we don't watch us lose the Ashes in the Winter

Lots of statistics in sport have gone to show that there is really no such thing as form, just random fluctuations on the long term. He will score runs again in time. He has a tough job opening, especially on a day like today.

Crowd will get them home after lunch no need to panic.

The first question you have to answer is who would you appoint as captain? It has to be someone capable of holding down his place in the side and with captaincy experience. I cannot think of anyone not in the side who could come in as captain and there's nobody in the team who stands out. Peterson has been tried and it didn't work.

The key point is that the selectors have - rightly - adopted a policy of long-term planning and continuity. That means Cook stays as captain, it also means Root stays as opener.

If (big IF) England lose today it will be down to poor batting and better cricket by Australia over 5 days and not down to anything related to captaincy.

England aren't performing but that is as much to do with individual form as much as anything. Knocking England seems to be the in thing to do at the moment in the media, some of it deserved much of it not.

***** sick of TMS talking about England walking or not walking, Broad stands his ground he gets a hard time, he walks and he is given a hard time. Aussies of course must get it right every time.
