They got Monday horribly wrong here, with cloud all day when they forecast sunny skies all day. They forecast no sun today, but we have sunny skies. Not very impressed.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 2 Oct 2013 to Friday 11 Oct 2013:

Mostly cloudy and unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain in southern and western areas on Wednesday, while the east and northeast see the best of drier and brighter weather. The unsettled regime then looks likely to erratically spread to most areas through the rest of this period though the rain always heaviest and most persistent in western and northwestern areas and even here expect some drier and brighter interludes. Windy at times also, particularly in the north and west where gales are likely at times. Temperatures are likely to be above normal and it may feel warm at times, especially in sheltered inland areas. Through the weekend and into the following week it is expected to remain unsettled but may turn somewhat cooler generally, especially for northwestern areas.

UK Outlook for Saturday 12 Oct 2013 to Saturday 26 Oct 2013:

Moving towards the middle of October rather unsettled weather is still likely to be established. However, going into the second half of the month, things are increasingly uncertain. At present it looks as if most places should have near normal temperatures and rainfall, with somewhat drier and warmer conditions than average weakly favoured for southern parts.

The warmer gets mentioned far too much for my liking

And another complete abortion of a forecast.

Today was forecast to start cloudy with heavy, thundery rain moving in. In reality it was largely sunny all day and not a drop of rain. Absolute rubbish! 😒

Cloudy across south and south-western parts, with rain or showers, some heavy with a risk of thunder, diminishing as the day progresses. Elsewhere, a fine, dry but breezy day with sunny periods. Feeling warm in sheltered southern and western areas.

Quite possibly correct for many, but completely wrong again for here.

Lots of grumbling at the Car Boot sales today as the 8am forecast of sun was actually sporadic bursts of thundery type rain which caused some issues!

ok for here too . they always said a threat of showers so was not surprised to see one. difficult to be so accurate when there is no obvious frontal band of rain. with a falling barometer , a rainy looking sky and the crossed wind rules indicating rain it is most likely you will see rain , but not definite.

Really have to ask if its us that is hearing things wrong or are the forecasts just terribly poor at the moment?

Nothing too exciting from the Met today with fairly benign weather looking likely all the way.

UK Outlook for Sunday 6 Oct 2013 to Tuesday 15 Oct 2013:

The more settled theme continues through Sunday and Monday. Many areas will be fine and dry, with light winds and some sunshine, after any morning fog clears. However, northwestern parts are likely to remain cloudier and windier, with some persistent, and at times heavy rain. Daytime temperatures may be a touch above average in the more settled areas, close to or a little below in the northwest, and night-time temperatures will tend be cooler than of late. Through the first half of next week, the unsettled weather in the northwest may push gradually southeastwards across the UK, though the far southeast is likely to remain largely dry and fine. Through the rest of the period, largely unsettled, with outbreaks of rain, the most unsettled weather generally towards the northwest.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 30 Oct 2013:

There is no clear signal for any particular dominant weather type across the UK, but it looks like the generally unsettled conditions will remain through the second part of October.

Wednesday:

Heavy rain, perhaps locally thundery, at first. This will move away northeastwards, with generally cloudy but dry conditions following. Perhaps a little brightness will develop later. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.

Possibility of thunder in the morning , I think IMBY at least that has only happened on one previous occasion this Summer

Very confused! Two weather videos: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather

One shows Thursday's very heavy rain affecting the south and south east, the other showing nothing of the sort and the rain affecting Cumbria and SW Scotland.
