I see SW Trains are running a revised timetable tomorrow. 50mph speed limit, likely no trains at all before 8am. Bunch of jokers. It's not going to be *that* bad. Reduce speed yes, in case of trees or debris on line, but no early trains at all? It's not a bloody hurricane FFS.

Apart from that we're still 6-9 hours away from the peak for wind speeds in the SE.

Interestingly on Sky News, they've just said "Breaking News" that the Met Office are now expecting 90mph gusts and that it will last longer than first thought.

Where Sky have actually got this from I don't know, but perhaps the Met Office have upgraded warnings?

The rain has stopped now here in South Devon after 8 hours, wind getting stronger.

Lost interest a little. Off to bed.

Current status here is the same as it has been all evening; still barely a breath of wind blowing and still raining moderately.

Good luck to anyone that does suffer if this thing develops into a beast.

Night all.

Even the Sky live from the scene reporter in a not windy Weston-super-Mare seems to have a touch of scepticism in his voice after his earlier excitable updates.

Still a long way to go.

So 2mb drop/hr

Wind now almost steady around 25mph

I really should get some sleep too, with the high likelyhood of an early morning shout!

Let's see what the morning brings.
To be honest I'm getting a bit of data overload syndrome, and I have to be up early to take the youngest and her friends to Thorpe Park (closing late but should time it OK for the onset).

Taking all available data and projections, I would say there is a 90% chance of a RED upgrade in the morning and all manner of cancellations and re-scheduling going on.

Been utterly still for hours here, but just this moment the wind has started to make a noise across the chimney. Have opened up the fireplace in the bedroom for ventilation, and there's a big old apple tree 10 yards from the bedroom window, so with the curtains open I'm off upstairs to monitor the sights and sounds from bed.

'Night, everyone.

Rain easing off here at last in Bournemouth. Been heavy rain since 7pm. Wind picked up a lot in the last 45 mins. Wind has gone very gusty. Some real big gusts outside.

Nick miller going with 50 60 with 80 gusts

The media',and I name "superstorm" sky and "tempest" mail' *should* look pretty silly tomorrow, but of course they won't.... as they'll be too busy kicking the meto in the balls.

Still, 3 days of sold papers and tutting viewers is done and done so, who cares?
