Rain and sleet arrived at 4am and turned to snow at 5am.


A slight covering has been left on them thar hills. 


Good to see some snow cover in an Autumn month.

Indeed. Not only has this snap brought some very cold nights. It has also now brought snow. I noticed that around Hawkinge/Paddlesworth direction this morning there was a hint of snow or slush.

It snowed here quite moderately here at 35m ASL around 5.15am on the back edge of the trough that went through. Even at your location heavy sleet would have fallen at the time. My temperature fell to 0.7c at the time but bounced back up to 3.5c an hour later.

Utterly vile fecking cold rain here this morning, without a hint of wintriness....and I've been on the lookout for even the mearest hint of splodginess on my glasses during mile 1.8 mile walk tp work - bugger all! Just chav rain.
It's not over, until the fat Scandy sinks.....

Mingin' innit? But indeed, the bit of brightness I've had earlier on this morning has now given way to grey skies with cold drizzle. My weekly trip into the town centre wasn't one of the most pleasant.
  If it is mid-January, there'd be a good couple of inches of snow on the ground by now.

Classic streamer set up. A band less than ten miles wide stertching from the Thames Estuary into Brittany. If ooooaaanly  it were January...
