I don't just mean what weather do you want for Xmas. But if you were able to choose any type of weather at any time of 2014 and for whatever timescale, what would it be?

This is all for my own back yard.

3 foot of powder for xmas then subzero conditions lasting into miid January with frequent snowfalls. At least one overnight minimum of sub -20C for my coastal city during this bitter spell. By the time a thaw kicks in i want to have at least 1.5 meters of level

Then for summer i want a 5 week heat wave with each day hitting at least 29C, high humidity and regular overnight thunderstoms.

A perfect year would be frequent snowfalls from around mid-December to mid-February, followed by a steady thaw through the second half of February to avoid flooding.

Then a nice early start to spring in March, with temperatures pushing into the mid-teens.

A good blow at the back end of March, plenty of convective showers and squally winds (not damaging ideally)...

April showers early, with a late spring snowfall just to freshen things up.

As we head towards May, a significant warm-up with temps around high teens to low 20s with plenty of clear blue skies.

Throughout May, much the same (no rain on Saturdays please so I can play cricket).

Thunderstorms and high humidity June/July/August, but preferably overnight and gorgeous sunny skies during the day (again particularly on Saturdays so there is no cricket interruptions).

Temperatures ideally the hotter the better....mid to high 30s would be great.

September, a nice gentle cool down to low 20s with ideally no rain.

Gales (but not damaging) in October, and some sharp frosts and crystal clear blue skies in November to see the vibrant colours of Autumn against the backdrop of blue skies.

December, we start all over again, with significant snow and easterlies just around Christmas.

Not much to ask is it?

Tropical - a warm, sunny morning, temperatures climbing rapidly throughout with increasing humidity, oppressive heat and blazing sun by late afternoon leading to a sunset thunderstorm and a warm steamy evening......repeat for the next 364 days

A nice -10c frost, followed by unbroken sunshine and the temp not rising above +10c during the day, before massive thunderstorms set in for a few hours in the evening, ending in a light overnight dusting of snow.

Repeat 365 times

Or failing that, some dry, sunny, (but not too hot) weather whenever (if) I manage a holiday next year, will do me fine.

For Xmas Day I'd love it to be warm enough to walk to the pub in a t-shirt. Something like 17c and as sunny as possible whilst still keeping the mild air.

For the rest of the year, the rest of the winter it would hopefully stay mild. Spring would start very early with plenty of clear blue skies and early warmth. Summer will build into the hottest on record. Direct southerly flows from Africa would bring extreme heat and humidity with the unseasonable warmth lasting well into November before being replaced with a return to the mild, uneventful conditions of the previous winter.

I'd like a nice clear sunny fresh crisp day then during late afternoon snow showers to start rolling in off the Thames

So, for Christmas, Santa, I would like: very very very cold, but snow-, winters and rather cool, cloudy, windy and damp summers.

More than a cm of snow on the ground at some point this winter would be nice. Was Dec 2010 since I last saw that (here)!

I don't bother with Christmas, but knowing my luck I'll end up with the equivalence of a relation giving me an unwanted gift which is damaging gale force winds.
But what I wouldn't mind is a decent photogenic lightning storm, the type I can set the camera up safely at a outdoor location knowing I won't be getting drenched or blown over.

Snow all through Christmas week would be lovely and through January too.  It doesn't have to be deep snow, or even enough to close roads, as long as it covers, sticks and lasts, so some low temps would be needed.  Sunshine and warm days from June to September would be just perfect too.  I just like it when the seasons behave as they're depicted on calendars.

For Christmas week I'd like 27C and clear skies (I'll probably get about 19C and cloud) otherwise I'd like cold and tons of snow.

For this winter, I'd like snow to fall just before Christmas, and then that will signify winter 'proper' beginning. Daytime temps around -1C, lows around -7C, but some days higher and lower. Sunny around 30% of the time.

For summer, I'd like temps around 22C as an average high, with some days reaching 30C and lots of thunderstorms. Sunny around 60% of the time.

That's all. Is that too much to ask?
