Very stormy. The noise has woken me up

Wind gusts are approaching 100mph and are just 5mph lower than my previous high  on the 5th of 104mph. Could we get two >100mph storm systems in two weeks? Average wind speeds are storm force 10. Portree lifeboat station also recorded 96mph earlier. Pressure is rising extremely fast after a very low low of 952.9hPa at midnight.

Good news. Not a single power blip so far despite my roof tiles clattering about and my front porch sounding like its about to disappear over to Uist

What is equally impressive is that the power supply has remained intact pretty much throughout. Not so much as a flicker tonight (i have a torch here on the table)....Well done to Scottish Hydro Electric

Thank goodness it is a lot calmer now....only severe gale 9

Very squally showers of hail and cooler than yesterday. Not as cold as I thought it was going to be, at least not yet. But these wind speeds make it feel raw of course.

Possible damage overnight, not sure. Didn't sleep much listening to things moving in the wind. There seems to have been a lot of noise from some of the roof tiles....will need some light to be able to check. I'd be surprised if others haven't seen damage overnight...lets hope not.

Now we get ready for tomorrows gales (60-70mph through Friday and Saturday), though they should be nothing like last night hopefully.

Can see snow on the Pentlands from my flat this morning and also a snow covered car in the street..no doubt from south of here. A wild night last night again (not me - the weather!)

A clear and relatively calm morning, 4c.

Last night was a lively cycle back from the station around 9pm. Lots of surface water and several large tree branches down. On the plus side the wind was mostly behind me and I made very good time! (Although my ride home is mostly heading NW the local geography always seems to funnel SW winds so they are behind me on the way home.)

Storm? What storm? As usual, nothing out of the ordinary here, a bit breezy yesterday evening, but after bedtime there were no serious weather related noises to keep me awake. Lovely clear sunny morning now, 3.6C and light SWerly.

Not current but from last night at 8.30 - p$%sing down. Got very wet collecting for charity. Exceptionally heavy burst as the cold front arrived (I suspect but can't be sure that this is what gave the hail at Stoke v Man Utd which cuased the game to be halted for 10 mins)
