Pressure now down to 954.4, strong winds with gales, but nothing particularly out of the ordinary yet.

Conditions can be best summed up as sunshine and showers, had some hail earlier, but more sun than shower at the moment.

Lots of roads closed round stevenage. Here's a picture taken at a little village called Dane End.The local stream had burst it banks and flooded into the road. It must of been a couple of feet deep.

So annoyed. Had to nip out to pick up provisions, as I opened the car door the wind took it. It is now bent out of shape. I thought I wouldn't get it shut thanks to the wind, but did, but now it only opens about 30cms. What a polava and superb timeing....at least noone else was involved or hurt.

The pressure is still falling here, 938.3hPa. Waves are overtopping the main pier at Uig. Gusts are not that special so far, max 76mph.

That's the bother with this weather – it’s so ruddy destructive!  Have to say it's my least favourite weather type "on the ground"  - in fact I detest it!  (interesting synoptically though).

Pressure is still falling now 952.8 sea level, 934.9 local.

Conditions here last night must have been worse than forecast, conservatory waterlogged , most of our fence panels either gone or broken.

Thankfully the largest fence panel just missed the conservatory

Speaking as an unpaid amateur meteorologist, what impressed me was how the weather system was very well handled by the models even from seven days away. It was forecast right down to the last hour with very little in the way of deviations.
Mind you, if medium range forecasting is as easy like this all the time then it would take the challenge away (it's a bit like knowing when you are going to be ill from a week away).
Now the charts are going back to their usual mind changings but one thing for certain is there's very little signs of the first proper wintry spell as it'll continue to be mild and changeable for the next two weeks at least.
At least we won't have to worry about water restrictions this summer - remember when THAT was an issue only a couple of years ago?
